Zac Efron's Transformation for His New Wrestling Movie Is Wild

Zac Efron has turned into a wrestler for his latest movie The Iron Claw – and there's a first-look picture of him fighting in the ring to prove it.

The Greatest Showman star has taken on the role of former pro wrestler Kevin Von Erich in the film produced by A24 and written and directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene starring Elizabeth Olsen).

Currently in production, The Iron Claw is set to focus on the Von Erich family, following different generations in the real-life professional wrestling dynasty of the 1960s.

Pictures of Efron on set have started circulating online in the past few weeks, with fans marveling at the High School Musical star rocking a new hairstyle: a wig with short bangs.

In the first official snap of Efron as Von Erich, shared by A24, the Firestarter star sports the same hair and wears some turquoise wrestler briefs. The picture sees the actor involved in a high-flying kick stunt, causing his opponent to lose their balance.

"Introducing The Golden Warrior himself. Zac Efron is Kevin Von Erich in #TheIronClaw," A24 captioned the tweet.

Efron posted the same picture to his Instagram page, teasing there's more fans will be let in on soon.

"First Look at my latest project Iron Claw! Can't wait to show you more… let's go," the actor wrote.

This isn't the first time Efron is playing the role of a real-life person. He previously appeared as serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and in The Greatest Beer Run Ever as John 'Chickie' Donohue who, during the Vietnam War, decided to support his friends by traveling to Vietnam to bring them a can of American beer.

The Iron Claw is set to be released sometime in 2023.
