The world has its fair share of ridiculously-pleasant-sounding jobs - being a wine taster, restaurant critic, you name it.

And the latest job to join this list - and it’s probably our favourite - is the position of a ‘gin butler’.

Not only would it be a fantastic career to tell people you have at the pub, but what it actually entails sounds perfect too.

Based in Redherring in Lowestoft, Suffolk, a restaurant is looking for a “culturally refined individual” to join their team, spread the love of gin (i.e. advertise its bi-monthly gin club) and stock more than 50 bottles.

The salary isn’t one to sniff at, either, at £22,000 a year.

According to the online advert, applicants must - obviously - love gin, have three years of gin-drinking experience, and understand gin’s history.

Restaurant owner Andrew Kettlewell told the BBC he’s looking for someone who doesn’t see the recent gin boom “as the norm”:

“Experienced ‘gin swillers’ will understand that only a few years ago, everyone just associated Gordon’s as pretty much the sole gin company and have seen it develop,” Kettlewell said.

And finally, one last requirement is: You must be the life and soul of the party.

“The right applicant shall need to be a natural entertainer and must love gin and to be the centre of attention,” the advert continues.
