Yellow House Architects Offers a New Twist on the Classics
Elizabeth Graziolo is a proponent of classicism, as evidenced in the projects undertaken by her architecture and interior design firm, Yellow House Architects. Perhaps it’s no surprise, considering she spent a productive 18 years of her career at Peter Pennoyer Architects. In 2020, she ventured out on her own, building a portfolio that includes residential and commercial settings across the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Miami, and abroad.
Her projects, ranging from ground-up construction to historical preservation, exhibit a strong attention to detail. In an Upper East Side penthouse duplex on which she collaborated with the ELLE DECOR A-List firm Redd Kaihoi, featured in our Summer 2023 issue, Graziolo complemented Redd Kaihoi’s sumptuous design scheme with architectural details spanning centuries. From linen-fold paneling in the family room to fluted plaster walls in the dining room, she seamlessly merged classical elements with a futuristic aesthetic.
Running a firm with 20 employees isn’t enough for Graziolo; she’s also a member of the Design Leadership Network and participates in an initiative to identify and train Black architecture and design students from Mississippi State University. Graziolo has a similar impact at her alma mater, Cooper Union, where she serves on the board as a trustee.
