One of the most anticipated red carpets of the year, the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, will return on Sunday in Los Angeles, celebrating outstanding achievement in cinema.

While the Oscars red carpet has historically been a venue for couture, with many highs over the decades, the annual ceremony also had its share of low fashion moments, including Demi Moore in biker shorts in 1989 and Geena Davis in a high-low corset minidress in 1992.
