'World's Largest Ever Cruise Ship' The Icon Of The Seas Completes First Sea Trials
The all-new Icon of the Seas has sailed the open ocean for the fist time. On June 22, the first-of-its-kind vacation completed its first sea trials in Turku, Finland. The trials are a construction milestone for every new ship. Specialists run hundreds of tests on all kinds of technical areas. Think: the engines, propellers and brake system. 450+ workers tested the thrusters, steering, navigational system and more. Even noise and vibration measurements were done. After 4 days, Icon passed with flying colors. The whole journey covered hundreds of miles. Between preparations and the trials, 2000+ specialists made it all happen. The second sea trials are later this year, where Icon will be pushed to its limits. Meanwhile, the work on its record-breaking experiences will continue.
