Aptly named The Escape Pod, this pint-sized retreat is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Offering a mere 75 square feet (6.9sqm) of interior space, the rotund cabin is constructed from birch ply and European oak and is clad in cedar shingles, allowing it to seamlessly blend into any rural setting.

Designed by Dominic Ash and Jeremy Fitter of Podmakers, the interior offers a simple, Scandinavian aesthetic, with a wood burner, built-in furniture, underfloor heating and plenty of soft furnishings for laid-back nights in.

Extensive insulation also means this little abode maintains its warmth, no matter what the weather is doing. Yet perhaps the best thing about it is its domed glass roof...

The Escape Pod, Somerset, UK

The glass roof allows lucky occupants to snuggle up and enjoy an evening under the stars. With a fully adaptable interior, the cosy little home can be modified to meet the needs of each owner.

Podmakers will craft your property in their workshop and supply it in eight segments, along with a flatpack platform for it to stand on. Amazingly, a competent DIYer can put the pad together in less than a week. Plus, prices start at just £22,800 ($29.4k).

Located in the Wood Green area of north London, this adorable home spans just 714 square feet (66sqm) but packs a punch when it comes to cuteness.

The residence resembles an organic mushroom and appears to be growing straight from the leafy plot on which it sits.

Despite its organic look, the building was actually once a lodging house for the gatekeeper and staff of the Chilts House Estate.

Built in the early 1800s, it would have been the entrance to the estate and all visitors would have passed it on their way to the manor, which was sadly demolished in 1895.

Spread across three floors, the main living areas are built around a large, four-sided brick chimney, which sits in the centre of the space. Other key period features include exposed ceiling beams, parquet floors and curving walls.

As for rooms, there's a kitchen, dining area and lounge. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and a single bathroom. The small and adorable home was for sale in July 2024, via Unique Property Company, for £300,000 ($387k).

Nestled in the mesmerising Scottish Highlands, between the Glens of Affric and Strathfarrar, this charming cabin is equally as beautiful as its surroundings.

A wilderness retreat like no other, the property was constructed from Western Red Cedar sourced from Canada. Seamlessly blending into its gorgeous woodland setting, the remote holiday home offers the perfect opportunity to escape the rat race.

Known as Parus, the chalet resides in the Eagle Brae estate and is designed to accommodate two people. With an open-plan living room, kitchen and dining zone, the cosy log cabin also offers a mezzanine level.

Designed by treehouse specialists, Blue Forest, this fairytale property was specially made to accommodate a family. Inspired by the beauty of its surroundings, the petite timber home is located on a private nine-hole golf course, inside the grounds of a country estate in rural Wiltshire, England.

The owners were looking for a tranquil garden retreat where they could relax and entertain while taking in magnificent landscape views.

Constructed from sustainable timber, the cabin's windows and doors were handmade from oak, its turret from copper and its roof from thatch. The interior is equally as impressive, thanks to a seemingly never-ending vaulted ceiling.

The enchanting Airbnb was once a fortified tower belonging to a castle. It has since been lovingly restored, combining historical features with bright and modern interior design.

You can still see glimpses of the home's past though, in the form of exposed timber beams, an old wrought-iron and wood staircase and arched doorways.

Suitable for three guests, the tiny tower features a living space on the ground floor, with a lounge and kitchen, while you'll find a king-sized bedroom upstairs.

Hand-built in a tranquil garden in Belmont, a suburb of Perth, Australia, the gorgeous cabin is akin to a miniature chapel, with shimmering stained-glass windows and decorative timber elements.

Known as the Leafy Retreat, the private bungalow was built in the traditional post and beam style and lies separate from the owners' home.

The hosts have spent 20 years collecting unique items to place inside the dwelling, which shows in the retro light fixtures, antique furnishings and decorative accessories. Inside, there's a queen-sized bedroom and a little living space.

Located in the town of Tepoztlán, just south of Mexico City, this dinky dome home is just one of a few dotted around the grounds of the property and each one is as adorable as the next.

From the outside, the dome looks almost too small to fit a person, but the interior is surprisingly spacious and inviting. Let's head inside...

Inside, you'll find a double bed and not much else. The home is incredible though, with its raw, hand-crafted walls on display. The ceiling extends to great heights and adds to the wow factor of the space.

Many dome homes like this can be found in Mexico and like adobe houses, might be made from mud, sand or earthbags. Sadly, we don't know exactly how this dome was constructed, but we love its rustic appeal and teeny tiny windows.

Perfect for two guests, each dome on the property enjoys access to a pretty garden and shared bathroom facilities. There's an outside washing area, as well as a semi-open shower.

Guests can also enjoy access to a communal outdoor kitchen, a dining area, swimming pool and Jacuzzi, which are powered by solar heating.

Enchanting and intriguing in equal measure, The Silo Studio looks like the perfect place for Rumpelstiltskin to keep his magical spinning wheel.

The tiny home resembles the twisted trunk of an ancient tree, allowing it to softly blend into its woodland setting in western Massachusetts, USA.

One doesn't simply walk into Mordor, but thanks to Airbnb, a few lucky guests were able to walk into Hobbiton, the official Shire home from The Lord of the Rings.

The beloved film set opened its doors to overnight guests for just four weeks in March 2023, enabling a handful of people to experience how Frodo Baggins and the rest of the hobbits might live if they came magically to life.

The Airbnb was created in celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and, according to the listing, guests got to sleep in The Millhouse, an adorable two-bedroom, hobbit-inspired home complete with a writing nook.

Guests also enjoyed exclusive access to a private hobbit hole, set up for cosy relaxation and were given a tour of the 12-acre (4.9 ha) film set, including its 44 permanent hobbit holes.

Though The Millhouse wasn't used as a film set, its cosy interior was curated by the trilogy’s Creative Director, Brian Massey, ensuring guests were given the authentic Shire living experience.

When they weren't exploring the set, guests could also enjoy a warm meal and a drink or two in The Green Dragon Inn. How's that for cool?

This riverfront cabin looks like it might be the fictional residence of a Disney character, however, it's very much real.

Voted the “Coolest Airbnb in Virginia” by Condé Nast, the quaint holiday home is nestled inside a lush woodland at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and dates back to the 1800s.

Amazingly, the cabin was picked up and moved to its current location in the 1970s.

Despite its age, the interior offers modern comforts, as well as bags of traditional charm. Think delicate sash windows, brick fireplaces, rustic timber floors and vintage-inspired furnishings.

From its tiny and unusual façade to its cosy interior, this would be the perfect spot to take refuge if you were a fairytale character on a long, tiring journey to the land Far, Far Away.

The octagonal-shaped home can accommodate up to four adults, but you wouldn’t think it, because the interior is so snug and cosy. The ground floor provides a lounge and a kitchen, while upstairs you’ll find a spacious bedroom.

From its freestanding stove to its rustic, exposed beams and teepee ceilings, every single space is bursting with charm. Adding to the magic, the property is just minutes from the shoreline of Lake Tahoe.

Both cute and cleverly designed, turf houses were once widespread across Iceland's wild and remote countryside. Created to cope with the extreme climate, the buildings each offer amazing insulation compared to traditional wood or stone houses.

Coming in an array of colours and sizes, these semi-underground abodes look like they've been plucked from the pages of a J. R. R. Tolkien novel.

According to Guide to Iceland, the properties were "built by stacking flat stones to create the foundation, using birch or driftwood to create frames, then covering the structure with several layers of turf."

A small wooden door would mark the entrance and there were "occasionally small windows", although very few were made of glass, since this was, at the time, a rare commodity.

"On the roof, there would usually be a small hole for ventilation, which could be closed in bad weather" thanks to a lid "made of animal guts" stretched over a barrel ring.

This miniature timber cabin is as sweet as woodland hideaways get. Located in an enchanting garden, the cottage can be found just 10 minutes from downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

In fact, in 2019 it was revealed that the 300-square-foot (27.9sqm) retreat is the state's most popular Airbnb listing – and it isn't difficult to understand why. The tiny woodland wonder was created by owners Jonathan and Rebecca Moody and took just nine months to complete.

Considered the most beautiful village in all of Poland, Zalipie is home to around 30 pretty painted buildings just like this one.

This tiny ancient hamlet is situated in Dąbrowa County and is renowned for its adorable wooden cottages, which are all whitewashed and embellished with hand-painted floral motifs in a rainbow of colours. Many also boast a cute thatched roof and decorated water well.

As far back as the late 19th century, residents of Zalipie began painting flowers onto their homes to hide the soot marks created by their stoves.

In this village, everything from the local church to the chicken coops and fences are embellished. Back when the tradition for decorating the homes began, the paint was made from powdered dye and milk.
