This Year’s World’s 50 Best Bars List Is Headed for a Major Shake-Up
The World’s 50 Best Bars list is primed for quite a shakeup this year.
The organization that ranks the best bars on the planet released on Tuesday its list of the runners-up. Compared with last year’s ranking, 14 of the top spots have fallen to between Nos. 50 and 100. That includes Paris’s Little Red Door, which went from No. 6 in 2023 to No. 59 this year.

Among the other bars the fell in the rankings are Mexico City’s Hanky Panky, which plummeted from No. 22 to No. 93, and New York City’s Katana Kitten, which dropped from No. 27 to No. 80. It’s possible that even more bars will be missing from the list entirely, but we won’t know until the top 50 are revealed at an awards ceremony in Madrid on October 22.
As for those who may be celebrating today, the list includes 12 new entries, including the first ever bar from Sri Lanka, Smoke & Bitters. The United States leads all countries with an impressive seven bars on the list, spanning New York, Miami, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Mexico follows closely behind with five bars in the ranking, while the United Kingdom counts four.
The annual World’s 50 Best Bars list is decided by 700 voters, including bartenders, educators, and writers. While this is just the eighth time the organization has released the Nos. 50 to 100, it’s been honoring the top 50 for 16 years. In just a couple of weeks, we’ll learn which bars have made that elite list—but we know already that it will be missing a handful of spots that were deemed the crème de la crème just last year.
