Woman Refuses to Help Friend Move After She Fails Contribute to Group Birthday Present
A friend group is split over who is in the wrong, after a woman refused to help her friend move because she didn't pitch in for her birthday gift

The woman, 33, is refusing to help her friend, whom she calls "Rachel" in a Reddit post, move out of her place after Rachel failed to pitch in on a birthday gift for her.
The poster explains that she and her friends have been close since college, and have continued to maintain a tradition of coming together for big milestones in the friend group like birthdays or moves to help make them special. Last month, for her birthday, the poster's friends all pooled money to get her a spa gift card — all, except for Rachel.
Rachel showed up to the party "empty-handed and didn’t even sign the card," leaving the poster feeling hurt. She writes that "I’ve always gone out of my way for her in the past."

The woman writes that Rachel confronted her, and she admitted to Rachel that her refusal to help her move was, indeed, about the gift.
Rachel told her that "money was tight," but the poster writes that she isn't so sure about that excuse, given that Rachel "just went on a weekend trip and posted about expensive dinners."
The friend group is split.
Some think the original poster is being petty, while others think that Rachel had a duty to let people know that she wouldn't be able to contribute to funds for the gift. Rachel herself says she thinks the poster is punishing her over something trivial.
Other users were quick to jump into the comments, and for the most part, they were not on the original poster's side.
"You are 33 and way too old to be throwing tantrums over gifts. Spending time with your friends is a gift," one user wrote.
" 'She just went on a weekend trip.' And? Was she supposed to cut back or save on the trip to give you money? I could save up for a cruise. Just because I got back from it doesn't mean I have extra money to piss away," the commenter wrote.
They continued on, saying "And why would she sign the card? Do you know how awkward it is to sign a card everyone put money in but you? That's like slapping your name on a group project you had nothing to do with."
