Woman’s Neighbors Are Upset with Her for ‘Not Recalling’ Her Dog — Despite Them Stepping into the Pet Owner’s Yard Uninvited

• A 30-year-old woman took to Reddit to share that an issue arose with her neighbors after an interaction with just her 4-year-old Rottweiler Bella

• The Redditor revealed one of her female neighbors came into her yard to “play” with her dogs uninvited. When Bella began to growl, the neighbor ignored requests to leave the premises, leading Bella to start barking and running after the pair, but noted that the dog stopped once she reached the property line

• “Now these neighbors keep making comments about not feeling safe with their kids, and how I should have called my dog back because they weren’t a threat,” the user said. “I don’t feel like I did anything wrong but I also don’t want the area to think that my dogs are dangerous, especially with the stigma against rotties"
  

A pet owner has been left worrying about what people will think once they hear about the conflict between her and her new neighbors.

On Monday, Jan. 27, the 30-year-old woman explained the situation on Reddit’s Am I The A—--- forum, writing under the username Throwaway9871125. She told how despite having four dogs the issue arose after an interaction with just her 4-year-old Rottweiler Bella.

The woman said having new renters move next door in recent months has been “unpleasant” as they are “always screaming and fighting” late at night. She said the men make her feel “very uncomfortable” as they’re always watching or trying to talk to her when she goes outside.

“I’m a single female living alone, and our police force isn’t the best so I just keep my head down hoping they’ll move out soon,” she said. “The other night, around 11 p.m,. I was outside with my dogs in the backyard.

“My neighbors have a chain fence, but I have no fence along my property except for the part that separates their property from mine,” she continued. “One of my dogs is on leash, but the other three are completely trained off leash and do not leave the yard.

“I know some people may not agree with that, but I live in the countryside, and also my dogs have NEVER run off,” she added.

The Redditor revealed one of her female neighbors came into her yard to “play” with her dogs uninvited.

When Bella began to growl, the neighbor ignored requests to leave the premises at which point one of the men from next door also came over.

The pet owner said Bella started barking and ran after the pair but stopped once she reached the property line.

“I also don’t want to stir up unnecessary drama when it’s already difficult living next to these people. AITA? [Am I the a—---],” she asked.

The post quickly racked up over 5,000 comments from people divided about the situation.

Many responses argued the neighbors should’ve stayed on their side of the fence while advising the pet owner to set up cameras in her yard.

“If they rent alert the landlord, they may not be aware of them essentially trespassing onto your property,” one person said.

“You've got good dogs and trained them well. NTA [not the a------], but make a police report,” another said.

“Please put up Guard Dog on Duty and No Trespassing signs IMMEDIATELY,” a third chimed in.  “That way people are warned, and it may be the difference for winning if the neighbors sue or dogs get taken by animal control. NTA”

“I would get security cameras and not trust your neighbors with the dogs,” another commented. “We have neighbors who would purposely provoke our rotttie and husky. So dogs would growl and bark.

“One day I let my dogs in my backyard as usual didn't think anything of them,” they continued. “The following day they died from rat poison. Please be careful with your fur babies. People are cruel these days.”

However, others claimed the pet owner was in the wrong for not keeping her dog on a leash.

“ESH. They are stupid, you are stupid for risking your dog being put down for a bite or worse. Leash or muzzle if you won't leash,” one person wrote.
