Take That wish they had 'talked more' to Robbie Williams before he quit band

Take That wonder if they could have stopped Robbie Williams from leaving the group by simply being more open about their feelings.

In the new ITVX documentary, 30 Years in the Making, the remaining members of the '90s pop band - Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen - reflected on Robbie's exit from the group in 1995.

Howard admitted that the band members never spoke about their feelings during their heyday and wondered if Robbie would have stayed if they'd been better communicators.

"To have someone close to you that you can speak to about your feelings, that’s one of the things we never ever did in the '90s, hence why Robbie left," he said. "We never discussed what he was feeling before he left that room. We look back at that moment and think we wished we could have talked more. I wonder if it could have saved him leaving."

A year after Robbie left, the remaining four members - also including Jason Orange - split up in 1996. However, the quartet reunited in 2005 and the Angels singer briefly returned for an album and a tour in 2010 and 2011. Jason left the group in September 2014.

30 Years in the Making, which delves into the three-decade-long relationship between Take That and their fans, was released on ITVX on Wednesday. It serves as a companion piece to the Take That jukebox musical film Greatest Days, which will premiere in cinemas on Friday.
