William's 'lack of effort' with Meghan reportedly caused rift with Harry

Following news of Prince Harry and Meghan’s move from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the rumour mill is overdrive about their relationship with William and Kate.

Reports have emerged of a rift between Meghan, 37, and her sister-in-law Kate, 36, with a source telling The Daily Mail: Kate and Meghan are very different people. They don’t really get on.”

Another insider told The Telegraph that the Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly ‘left in tears’ after a dress fitting for Princess Charlotte at Meghan’s wedding rehearsal.

And now there are further reports about tension between brothers William, 36, and Harry, 34, which apparently sparked an argument last year.

A source told Vanity Fair: “Kate and Meghan are very different people and they don’t have a lot in common but they have made an effort to get along.

“Any issues are between the brothers.

“Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so.

“They had a bit of a fall out which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort.

“That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.”

The Fab Four, as they’ve been dubbed by the media, made their public debut together at the Christmas Day church service in Sandringham. Meghan and Harry are believed to have stayed with Kate and William at Amner Hall in Norfolk, during the festive period.

In an unprecedented move, the Queen invited Meghan to join the Royal Family at the estate when she and Harry were only engaged.

The Duke of Sussex regularly accompanied his older brother and wife during official engagements and they even have The Royal Foundation – a joint charity for all of their causes and projects.

However, it seems since settling down with Meghan, Harry wants to branch out on his own.

The source continued: “Two years ago the idea of Harry leaving Kensington Palace was unthinkable but a lot has changed.

“He wants to be his own person not in William’s shadow.

“The countryside works for him and Meghan because they want to raise their son or daughter away from the limelight.”

Kensington Palace have not commented on the move or the rumours, but said in a statement that “Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate.”

However, royal biographer Duncan Larcombe thinks their move is simply a logistical matter. The couple’s existing home may well be too small for them, especially given pregnant Meghan is due to give birth next spring.

He told Yahoo UK: “Harry and William are very close, so it won’t be a decision that will have been taken lightly.

“What has happened is probably to do with the lack of availability of a larger apartment in Kensington Palace.

“The property in Windsor is the next best thing.”
