Why Marvel Fans Want Henry Cavill to Be the Next Wolverine

From Men's Health

  • With X-Men coming to the Marvel universe, fans have wondered who will play Wolverine.

  • Among the growing list of names, the newest actor thrown into the ring is Henry Cavill.

  • The actor is best known for playing Superman.

Ever since it was announced that the X-Men were going to be folded into the Marvel Universe, fans have been trying to come up with ideas on who might become their favourite characters from the franchise. While Marvel has been especially quiet about when Wolverine (or any mutant from the X-Men franchise, for that matter) will debut within the Marvel-verse, people are now envisioning what Henry Cavill would look like with the steel claws.

Fans have taken to Instagram with graphic designs, drawings, and other creative ways of imagining what the former Superman would resemble in full Wolverine glory.

The actor has played Superman in three DC films—Man of Steel, Bat v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. (He's also starring in the Netflix fantasy series, The Witcher, and currently filming the show’s second season.)

Despite it being nothing more than a fantasy, fans have already expressed concerns about Cavill—mainly, his height. In the comics, Wolverine only stands at a mere 5’3” while Cavill is 6’1". Although Jackman is 6’2”, at least some fans have hoped that the character's build might be closer to the one from the comics.

Cavill is not the first actor fans have envisioned taking over the role. Fans have also dropped the names of Daniel Radcliffe, Jason Momoa, Tom Hardy, and Taron Egerton.

The character of Logan, aka Wolverine, became a staple in millions of homes via Jackman, who starred in 1999’s X-Men. He went on to reprise his role in its various sequels, along with his own franchise of stand-alone films.
