Is Whitney still friends with the Mormon Wives group?
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on Disney+ has left us with a lot of questions. For one, what is soft-swinging? What's with the massive soda obsession? And how on earth is Jen related to Hollywood A-Lister Ben Affleck (she's married to his second cousin btw)? But perhaps the most pressing question we have after finishing the series - is Whitney still friends with the MomTok group?
The new series dropped on Disney+ on 6th September and focusses on a group of Mormon MomTokkers who went viral back in 2022, after one of their group, Taylor Frankie Paul, confessed to being part of a soft swinging group, but ended up sleeping with a member of the group behind her then husband's back. Fast forward a year later and the group is still trying to navigate their TikToks, friendships and marriages.
While Taylor was dealing with the fallout of the soft swinging scandal, fellow TikToker Whitney Leavitt stepped into her Queen Bee shoes and began leading the group.
However, after Taylor's return to the group, several tough confrontations with a number of the group, including a very awkward conversation with Demi, and a mass unfollowing at Mayci's launch party, it seems Whitney has been permanently shut out of the group.
The series ended with Whitney awkwardly leaving Mikayla's birthday party after attempting to make amends with Mayci and delivering a gift for Mikayla, who seemed less than impressed to receive it.
So is she still friends with the women? Here's what you need to know.
Is Whitney still friends with the MomTok group?
Well it's a little confusing. Mayci, who was the closest to Whitney on the show, revealed while they're cordial they haven't spoken since the release of show.
She told Variety, "She’s [Whitney] not really close with anyone. We’re cordial. I really don’t know where we stand, because I texted her seeing how she was doing when the show first came out, and she didn’t respond. But then she started posting her personal texts online. So I mean, I have no idea where me and her stand right now. As far as everyone else in the group, I don’t think anyone would want her back in MomTok."
However, in the lead up to the release of the series Whitney has posted a number of TikToks with the women, but didn't appear to feature in any videos in the months in between filming.
And despite the mass unfollowing at the end of Mayci's launch event, Whitney seems to be following and is followed back by all the women on Instagram apart from Mikayla and Jessi.
On a recent episode of The Viall Files, the women doubled down that they're not friends with Whitney, with Jessi saying, "[In] our real friend group, we forget she’s a part of it, Genuinely, we forget she’s on the show. I do."
And Demi added she gets a "jump scare" whenever Whitney appears for content days.
For Whitney's side, she revealed to US Weekly she has reconnected with Mayci and Taylor since filming ended, but she was still unclear on her relationships with the rest of the women.
"I just saw her [Taylor] yesterday and we were talking about how we are closer now than we were before," she revealed.
Well at least that's something. As for whether Whitney would return for another series? Yeah she's not so sure on that.
