The White Lotus' fans were probably left startled when they saw Greg return to the show at the end of the third series' first episode. The character, played by American actor Jon Gries, appeared in the last few seconds of the show when the character of Chloe, played by Charlotte Le Bon, introduced him as her boyfriend and that they had lived near the Thai resort for nearly a year.

Viewers were introduced to Greg in the first instalment of the popular HBO comedy show, which was set in the Hawaiian resort. He befriended the lonely Tany McQuoid, played by Jennifer Coolidge, and the two eventually fell in love.

The second series, which took place in the Sicilian resort, revealed that the couple were now married, but things were slightly rocky between the two. Tanya suspected that Greg was keeping secrets from her, while Greg became weirdly angry at her for bringing along her assistant, Portia, played by Haley Lu Richardson.

And it seemed that Tanya's suspicions of her husband were correct, as Greg had to make a supposed quick dash out of Italy for business reasons, before Tanya bet Quention, played by Tom Hollander, who had a supposed connection to Greg. It begins to unravel that Greg is trying to kill his wife in the hope to get his hands on her money.

He succeeds - to some extent, with the second series concluding with Tanya's demise. In the third series, Greg returns to The White Lotus resort with his new girlfriend Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon). Only time will tell if and when we get to find out what exactly happened to Greg after Tanya's death.

The 67-year-old actor is also a writer, producer and director, and has had an extensive career in Hollywood. Avid indy film fans may have spotted the actor in the cult classic Napoleon Dynamite, a 2004 film starring Jon Heder and directed by Jared Hess. In the funny yet surreal film, Gries plays Napoleon's uncle - Uncle Rico, who constantly eats steaks and is stuck in the halcyon days of the 1980s, when he once had a promising career in American football.

The actor, who is from California, has also starred in other well known films, such as the 1997 blockbuster Men in Black, starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, as well as the Taken franchise alongside Irish actor Liam Neeson, where Gries played the role of Mark Casey.

On the small screen, the actor has a long list of TV show credits to his resume, including popular American shows such as 24, ER, CSI: NY and LOST, in which he played Ben Linus' father Roger for six episodes. He then starred as Greg in the first series, which came out in 2021, and has now reprised his role in the hit TV show.

Not much is know as to why he is at the Thai resort, but in true White Lotus fashion, more details are likely to emerge as the series progresses. In the second episode of the third series, the character of Belinda Lindsey, played by Natasha Rothwell, who also starred in the first instalment, encountered Greg. Will she be the one to uncover what Greg really did to Tanya? We will just have to wait and see.
