While the age gap is only a small part of the story, it's something a lot of viewers have been keen to learn more about, so what is the age gap between the pair? Here's what you need to know.

What is the age gap between Solène and Hayes in The Idea of You?

In Prime Video's The Idea of You, art gallery owner and single mum Solène is 40 years old while boy band member Hayes is 24 years old, giving them an age gap of 16 years. In real life the age gap between actors Anne Hathaway, who plays Solène, and Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Hayes, is much smaller. Hathaway is 41 years old, while Galitzine is 29 years old.

Anne has spoken about the couple's age gap in the movie telling the Today Show she enjoyed being part of a movie where the age gap was spoken about openly.

"It’s kind of fun to be in a film where we talk about it, where we don’t dance around it, but we actually embrace her point of view on it,” she explained.

Anne also went onto comment about Solène's exact age and how 40 can mean different things to different people, saying: "It’s funny, it’s OK if 40 is old, it’s OK if 40 isn’t old, it’s OK whatever it is, because it’s persona. For Solène, her point of view is, you know, she became a mum really young and she really wanted to have a career and so she doesn’t totally identify with her age.

"She feels like maybe she’s done things a little bit out of order and for her, 40 means it's a time ... of self discovery for her. And that’s what the movie says … how wonderful that she finds someone that she feels so supported by, seen by, embraced by, valued by.”

Ok, we are so excited to watch this.
