This Wellness-Centric Hotel in Tulum Is My New Favorite Place on Earth

Sound baths! Beach clubs! A man walking around waving Palo Santo! These are just a few of the fabulous things I experienced during my time in Tulum, Mexico, and now my heart low-key breaks whenever I realize I'm no longer there. It may sound cliché, but my time spent in the beach town (which you've definitely seen touted for bachelorette trips and wellness retreats) felt like stepping into paradise. And my stay at Nômade Tulum—a wellness-centered resort right on the ocean—was like one big dose of serotonin.
I spent three nights at Nômade this winter, and before I even landed back in NYC, I was trying to figure out how to convince the pilot to turn right back around. This property just filled me with a sense of peace, and I was relaxed in a way I don't know if I've ever been before. And with Insta-worthy scenery around every corner, this hotel definitely deserves a spot on your travel bucket list. Read on for my full Nômade Tulum review, then feel free to book a stay for yourself.

THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS
After some rather intense Instagram stalking, I knew that my visit to Nômade Tulum was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but boy, were my expectations exceeded. Although the hotel is about an hour's drive from the airport, I immediately forgot about the journey as soon as I stepped into the open-air lobby. After a quick tour of the property, I knew that this was going to be the relaxing weekend I so desperately needed. I picked my jaw up off the floor and was escorted to my new home sweet home.
THE ROOMS
Unlike big chain resorts, Nômade has a homey-chic aesthetic, and its standalone suites are scattered throughout the jungle landscape Tulum is known for, just steps from the sand. For real, you can walk out of your room and straight onto a path to the beach without even thinking about putting on shoes.
When I opened the door to my room, I literally gasped. It looked like a massive, artsy treehouse, complete with a private balcony that overlooked the Caribbean. I stayed in Nômade's "Arena Room," which has a king-sized bed. There was more than enough space, but if you're looking for something even more luxurious, the property also has bungalows with private outdoor plunge pools and oceanfront suites where you literally step out of your door and onto the sand.
THE AMENITIES
Gosh, where do I begin? Just in case you haven't picked up on it yet, Nômade Tulum is far from your typical hotel, so don't expect your typical amenities. For starters, visitors can enjoy the on-site beach club free of charge, complete with sunbeds, cabanas, occasional DJ sets, and staff always ready to bring you cocktails, guac, tacos, and more.
As I've mentioned, the resort also boasts an array of wellness experiences, including a spa, daily morning yoga, pilates, meditation, breathwork, ice baths, and spiritual ceremonies. I chose to try out the sound healing session, and it was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. It's basically a listening experience where you're immersed in different sound waves created by everything from instruments to voices. You lie down on a mat, so there's a slight chance you may fall asleep (like, I literally heard someone snoring), but it's safe to say it definitely helps reduce stress.
THE FOOD AND BEV
There are three on-property restaurants that offer everything from fresh breakfasts in the mornings to oceanside ceviche and paella for dinner. I would start my day with a cappuccino and fruit platter at Macondo, a Moroccan-inspired space that would occasionally be transformed into an open-air club complete with a DJ. Mid-day, when I'd worked up an appetite from so much relaxation, I'd get lunch at La Popular, a waterfront spot with amazing tacos. And then for dinner, I'd visit Maresias, also on the beach, which specializes in seafood. Maresias is actually located within Be Tulum, which is Nômade Tulum's sister property right next door.
THE BOTTOM LINE
If you're looking for somewhere to truly recharge your batteries—whether you're on the verge of burnout, need a quick change of scenery, or even want a romantic getaway—Nômade Tulum has your name written all over it. Go here if you want to disconnect in order to reconnect. That's exactly what I did! Plus, the chic design throughout the property gave me allll the future home decor inspo I needed. I'll be back!
