Would You Wear a Doughnut-Inspired Fragrance? Dunkin’ Thinks You Might
Squeaky clean, with a sweet twist.
If you’ve ever stepped into a doughnut shop on a busy Sunday, you’ve already gotten a whiff of pure heaven. That warm, nostalgic smell of freshly fried pastries with a thick glaze icing is enough to make anyone stop in their tracks — and didn’t you just wish you could bottle it up and wear it as a fragrance?
Luckily for you, there’s no need to wonder.
Dunkin’ recently teamed up with Native for a collection of doughnut-inspired personal care items, according to a statement provided to Food & Wine. This limited-edition lineup includes a handful of deodorants, body washes, shampoos, and conditioners — all in varying degrees of sweetness. It’s now available at Walmart stores across the country, as well as Native’s online site.

“Native has earned a reputation for creating unexpected, gourmand-inspired partnerships in fragrance, and our collaboration with Dunkin’ brings the ultimate playful twist to your routine,” Chris Talbott, CEO of Native, said in the statement. “By combining Native’s iconic formulas with sweet aromas inspired by Dunkin’s beloved, classic doughnuts, this collection redefines how personal care can be both fun and delightful.”
Bewildered and maybe even a little bit intrigued? Allow us to walk you through it.
The collaboration includes deodorants, shampoos, body wash, conditioners, and lotion in four doughnut-inspired scents: First up among this bunch is Dunkin’s ubiquitous Strawberry Frosted doughnut, a scent that recalls that sugary-sweet pink creation that’s topped with rainbow sprinkles. It’s joined by the all-too-familiar Vanilla Sprinkle, a classically crowd-pleasing scent that Native says also brings coconut and citrus notes to the table. Blueberry Cobbler, on the other hand, shares a “tempting fusion of blueberry, apple, and caramel notes.” Perhaps the most perplexing fragrance of all is the Boston Kreme, a scent reportedly “filled with goodness” and a generous helping of vanilla, buttery sugar, and cream notes.

The internet has approached this collaboration with cautious optimism (and some heavy skepticism) thus far. Beauty creators posted their respective reviews of the fragrances, and some deemed the soaps weren’t “giving doughnut,” and the scents generally weren’t exactly on the nose.
“It smells like strawberry doughnuts, but it has that artificial strawberry doughnut side that makes my stomach quench,” one creator quipped in a December video. “Native, Dunkin’ Donuts, I’m scared.”
Surprisingly, online creators seemed to enjoy the Boston Kreme scent most of all — but you don’t have to be a beauty editor or industry pro to know that over-the-top gourmand fragrances are enjoying time in the spotlight. Between subtle croissant scents and Auntie Anne’s foray into the fragrance game, there’s apparently a market for it. After all, Dunkin’ and Native’s launch is hot on the heels of a similar Crumbl Cookies release from Dove, which offered hyper-sweet takes on their Lemon Glaze, Strawberry Crumb, and Confetti Cake cookies for consumers.
We’ll pass on sharing our own thoughts about pastry-flavored shower soap, but as for the doughnuts themselves? We’ll take a dozen.
