Watch trailer For Disney's live-action Nutcracker
Disney just released a teaser trailer for its upcoming live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and it looks truly delightful.
This live-action retelling of E.T.A. Hoffmann's beloved 1816 story The Nutcracker And The Mouse King is directed by Lasse Hallstrom and stars Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and Matthew Macfadyen, just to name a few. Misty Copeland will also perform in the film, and you can catch a glimpse of that at 1:09 in the trailer:
A dark adaptation of the story, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms follows Clara (Foy), who is desperately searching for the key that will unlock a box containing a precious gift from her late mother. Her godfather Drosselmeyer (Freeman) gifts her with a golden thread which leads her to the key - but also into a Wonderland-like parallel world. There, she encounters a variety of new characters including soldier Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a crew of mice, and the rulers of three Realms: the Land of Snowflakes, the Land of Flowers, and the Land of Sweets. Together, Clare and Phillip venture into the Fourth Realm, ruled by a terrifying Mother Ginger (Mirren), in order to find Clara's key and bring peace to the realms. And in case you're wondering, Knightley plays the sugar-plum fairy.
Disney also released four new photos from the film, showcasing its lush costumes and set design:

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms opens on 2 November, 2018.
