Watch now: Lydia West plays lead role in Boots Christmas advert
The Boots Christmas advert, starring BAFTA-nominated actress Lydia West, celebrates the small moments that bring us joy over the festive season.
Titled 'Joy For All', the one-minute ad tells the story of Holly (played by Lydia) who finds a pair of magical glasses on the bus. As soon as she puts the glasses on, Holly discovers that they let her see what really brings people joy.
From colleagues who love indulging in bubble baths to her cousin who dreams of getting glam, the glasses help Holly make Christmas truly magical for her friends and family. Present buying can be a challenge for many of us, but the ad wants to remind shoppers that Boots has something for everyone.
As soon as Christmas Day comes around, we then see Holly watch as her loved ones open presents that spark joy. Thanks to the magical glasses, she was able to buy meaningful gifts (from Boots, of course) that bring happiness. And, at the end of the ad, we see the glasses returned to their missing owner: Father Christmas.
'Our customers are telling us they want this Christmas to be a joyful time with loved ones, particularly after another turbulent year,' says Pete Markey, Chief Marketing Officer at Boots UK.
'The story of Holly and her magical spectacles shows that finding the right gift for the right person can spark that feeling of joy both for the giver and the recipient. Our extensive range of gifts means that people can be confident that with Boots there is ‘Joy for All’ this Christmas.'
Speaking about the ad, Lydia says: 'Christmas is my favourite time of year and like Holly, I enjoy the feeling of picking a present for someone that I know they are going to love. My time on set filming the Boots campaign got me feeling festive and excited to think about what is going to make my own friends and family smile with joy on Christmas morning.'
Customers visiting Boots stores this festive season will be able to experience the 'Joy for All' film for themselves, with magic 3D Christmas glasses available to purchase for £2, with 50p going to The Prince's Trust.

Boots Christmas advert 2021 recap
Directed by Academy Award winner Tom Hooper, the three-minute Boots advert for Christmas 2021 unwrapped the joy of spending time with loved ones at Christmas.
As Joy (played by Doctor Who star Jenna) got ready for a night out, she reached into a bag which has been gifted by her Nan with the note, 'This is what Christmas feels like', and she soon realised its never-ending magical properties as it began to produce masses of gifts.
Joy's bag continued to produce gifts for her loved ones, such as a camera to capture a special moment during a night out with friends, extra baubles (and bubbles) to help decorate the family Christmas tree, a cosy hat and scarf set during a snowy ride on the Waltzer, and even false eyelashes to glam up a snowman.
