The Wanted's Max George shares serious health update from hospital
Max George, part of boyband The Wanted, has posted a selfie from his hospital bed and updated fans that he's received a "shock" diagnosis which is "no doubt a set back" for him. Other members of The Wanted include the late Tom Parker, who sadly died from a brain tumour in 2022, Jay McGuinness, Nathan Sykes and Siva Kaneswaran.
George shared with his 369,000 followers that he will sadly be in hospital for the next month due to ongoing issues with his heart.
"Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart," he explained in his post, adding that he still has many more tests to come while doctors work out "the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet".
He added that there will be tough times ahead, but he has a great support system around him. "It's gonna be a difficult few weeks/months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn't exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I'm 100% in the best place."
Describing his health issues, George said despite the challenges ahead he's grateful to have caught his problems early and is going to tackle them with all that he's got. "Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I’ll take on with all I’ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was."
He also promised fans he'll be keeping them updated over the coming weeks, joking that he has little else to do from his hospital bed.
In response to his post, well wishers flooded the comments, including bandmate Kaneswaran who wrote, "Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon ❤️".
Presenter and member of JLS, Marvin Humes, also commented with "Sorry to hear you're not well geezer.. You're strong and will fight through.. big love mate ❤️".
Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones also left an encouraging message for George, writing under the photo, "Get well soon Max! Sending you all the positive energy x".
