Now is the time where I suddenly remember all the people on our list who I meant to buy for but haven't. The teacher! The cat sitter! Aunt Fanny in Minnesota! My husband! This is the type of moment Walmart+ memberships are made for.
The retail giant's delivery service offers much more than groceries. It's a holiday helper! And if you sign up now, you can have last-minute gifts delivered where they need to go — whether that's to your door or across the country — in time for Christmas, with free shipping and no order minimum. I'm thinking you'll also want to use the service for festive decorations, dinner prep and hosting overnight guests. Just don't dilly-dally; this offer ends December 19.
To test out the service for some holiday shopping, sign up for the Walmart+ 15-day free trial (psst: you get an extra 15 days by answering a few questions). If you love it, you can continue the membership for a $12.95 monthly (or $98 annual) fee. The membership also comes in handy for many things this time of year — holiday decorating, dinner prep, hosting overnight guests and so much more — but it's also great year-round for grocery delivery. There's even fresh produce!
If you're still scrambling for presents, check out these eight goodies I've found, many of which are on sale right now.
A gift that any cook will treasure, this 6-quart Dutch oven from the Pioneer Woman herself would be especially great for that ever-gracious host in your life. It cooks up fave dishes (hearty stews, pot roasts) beautifully, while elevating the look of the dish at the table. It's so gorgeous that they'll never want to tuck it away. The colors (green, red and white) are stunning — and just look at that lid with the golden knob and embossed flowers!
This Dutch oven has earned an impressive 4.8-star rating from shoppers. One fan commented: "It is made for comfort cooking! It cooks evenly and efficiently, has a durable enamel finish inside and out and has dimples on the underside of the lid to collect condensation and help with basting..."
Everyone drinks water. How about gifting those left on your list with this 20oz Brita Double Wall Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle? The top-rated bestseller improves the taste of tap water by reducing the chlorine and it keeps water nice and cold.
"This is a game changer! I don't love the water out of my faucet and also like to be environmentally conscious by not using water bottles if I'm at home. This makes it possible to be green and still get hydrated with good, filtered water!"
Teachers use hand sanitizer and disinfectant cleaners all day long, now more than ever. Their hands are especially dry, tired and just plain worn out. Winter break is fast approaching, so my daughter and I will thank her teacher with a little something she can really use — healing hand creams! This Burt's Bees Tips and Toes Gift Set contains six nourishing items. Four of them are devoted to hand TLC: Almond & Milk Hand Cream, Honey & Grapeseed Hand Cream, Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream and a serious Hand Salve. Also included: a Coconut Foot Cream and a lightly tinted Pomegranate Lip Balm. It all comes ready to gift in one cute honeybee box, no wrapping required.
One happy shopper shared: "I got this for Christmas and I loved it...The small, round, white container is the almond milk cream and it's my favorite. It smells amazing and moisturizes well...The salve has no smell really and it's perfect for the winter, when your skin is dry and cracked, it fixes that ASAP. [Use it for] rough skin, feet, elbows, knees or just as a lip balm or in place of lotion."
Instant cams are hot again. Seems we've been missing the tactile pleasure of holding photos in our hands, and to have them instantly is so gratifying. The Fujifilm Instax Mini 7S Instant Camera (with a 10-pack of film) is on sale for just $59 (was $70). A fun gift for kids, grandparents and every age in between! Choose from pink, light blue and white.
One shopper has found lots of uses for this cutie: "Snap a photo and jot down a message for a friend. [Use it] at bridal or baby showers... Take a picture of your shoes and put it on the outside of the box so you can immediately find the shoes you're looking for. And of course easy, one-of-a-kind scrapbooking..."
My husband bought an awesome Anker Eufy robovac in November — an early gift since we added a puppy to our family. Hate to tell him, but he should've waited... Right now the slim Anker Eufy 25C Robot Vacuum is majorly marked down ($99, was $250). This will be a welcome gift for a partner, a parent or pretty much anyone who doesn't love the act of vacuuming.
The Eufy accepts commands via button, app and voice (if you pair it with an Alexa or Google Home smart speaker). Bonus: It runs quietly enough that it doesn't freak out the pets or ever annoy me.
One thrilled reviewer wrote, "I love my Eufy Robovac!! ... Whether it’s stuck, cleaning or needs to be emptied, the app will alert you. My favorite feature will have to be the edge cleaner — it cleans right against the corners and walls around the entire house. It also has no problem going from hardwood floor, tile, to rugs without getting stuck...Everyone in my family is getting one for Christmas this year."
We've gotten so wrapped up in giving cute, themed, follow-along LEGO sets that we've forgotten the open-ended beauty of basic bricks. Let their imagination take over with this 1,504-piece LEGO set that includes a variety of colors and shapes (bricks, wheels, windows, doors, eyes) and four baseplates. While there are clear instrux for building cool things, such as elephants and castles, there's also ample opportunity for invention, exploration and creativity! And the sale price is right-on: $40, down from $70. (Note: The LEGO store has never put these on sale, and they don't have them in stock at all right now.)
One happy shopper loves the "huge collection" that "gets the creative juices flowing." The reviewer continues: "Who doesn't love LEGOs? Even adults enjoy snapping them together to build something...My grandsons were thrilled to get this box for Christmas. Now if they will just keep them picked up so mom and dad don't step on them."
Luckily my husband doesn't read my posts unless I make him, so I can divulge my main gift to him (and to myself): I bought a 23andMe DNA Health and Ancestry Test for each of us. Years ago we tried a similar DNA kit, which was super interesting, but the details you can get with this one are downright fascinating and could really benefit our family. To use it, we'll simply send in a saliva sample and they'll process it (lab fees included). In six-to-eight weeks we will learn more about how our genetics impact our health and whether we are carriers for or predisposed to certain conditions. We'll also get to delve deeper into our ancestry. This is exciting!
One thrilled reviewer wrote, "As a result of DNA, our family has connected with a family member we knew nothing about! We are all very excited."
A yearlong Walmart+ gift membership for a loved one may be the best gift of all! I'm gifting one to my father, who is blind, this year. I spoke on the phone with a Walmart+ manager, who told me the retailer will even accept my dad's orders by phone, which will make shopping for everyday needs worlds easier for him. This membership will get him free, same-day delivery on groceries and more and he'll save on prescriptions too. And, of course, I'll remind him that as a member, he gets to ship as many gifts to me as he wants, free of charge. ; )
