Whether you're cracking open your seventh selection box, popping the cork on another bottle of fizz, or raiding the fridge for a midnight cheese and biscuit, Christmas is a time for FEASTING. Now, we know what you're thinking: "Christmas isn't for another four months, why are you talking about it now?" Well, you can never be too prepared, right? Plus, once you see what Waitrose is offering this year, you'll be counting down the days 'til December.
Let's start with party food and canapés, shall we?
This year, to get the Christmas party started, Waitrose has launched Bloody Margaret Prawn Cocktails. They're made up of juicy prawns in a cocktail sauce with layers of cucumber, spiced tomato and gin-infused jelly, topped with smoked salmon pieces and finished with lovage.
If you're fan of cheese (so everyone, yeah?), then you're going to go bonkers for the Baking Camembert With Garlic Doughball Wreath. It's a rich baking Camembert and tear and share doughball wreath glazed with olive oil, parsley and garlic, with a caramelised red onion and sherry vinegar chutney.
Moving on to the main event, Waitrose is, of course, selling a wide range of turkeys, but how about something different? How about fish? Waitrose's Three Fish Roast is a succulent Scottish salmon fillet with cod and smoked haddock. Plus, baby spinach in a zesty lemon and dill butter.
And for the vegans of you among us, Waitrose has a Vegan Jewelled Roast With Fruity Centre. It's a savoury mushroom-based roast with sweet caramelised onions, chestnuts and a clove-spiced apricot centre, topped with a crunchy, colourful garnish of apricots, cranberries, crushed chestnuts, sunflower seeds and pine nuts. Yum!
Now, let's get to desserts - the best part of any meal, am I right?!
First up we have this outrageous looking Heston From Waitrose Espresso Martini Chocolate Torte. It's a rich and indulgent coffee and chocolate mousse, layered with salted caramel chocolate ganache and espresso martini-soaked chocolate sponge, on a crisp wafer biscuit base. Yum or what?!
Another delicious dessert from Heston Blumenthal is this Giant Cracking Penny. It was inspired by those chocolate coins which hang from the branches of a Christmas tree. This giant chocolate penny is a shimmering bronze Belgian chocolate shell surrounding rich chocolate mousse with hazelnut ganache, on a chocolate and hazelnut base.
Now, who's ready to celebrate Christmas?
