Viola Davis dazzles in purple jewelled gown at BAFTAs
Viola Davis glittered in a shimmery purple gown on the red carpet for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards on Sunday 19 February.
The actress, aged 57, attended the award ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in a custom gown by Stella McCartney. Needless to say, she looked stunning in the embellished, deep purple look. The simple, floor-length gown was elevated with a matching cape, draped over the star’s shoulders demurely. She finished the look with a black bag and dazzling diamond earrings.
The star coordinated her makeup look with her dress, opting for a glamorous, purple smokey eyeshadow with long lashes. She wore a beautiful bright blush on her cheeks and balanced out the look with a classic nude lip gloss. Her dark hair was in a chin-length, curly bob that felt reminiscent of a classic Hollywood starlet.
Davis received a Best Actress nomination for her role in The Woman King, which Cate Blanchett won for her performance in Tàr.
Even so, Viola Davis is having a great month as she took home a Grammy for her audiobook Finding Me. This means she now holds the prestigious title of an EGOT - an abbreviation for someone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award. She now joins the ranks of Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Hudson and Audrey Hepburn - all fellow EGOT winners.
The star notably wore a multicoloured, sequin gown with fringe detailing to the Grammys, a custom look designed by Naeem Khan. She clearly loves a sparkly number!
