Viktor & Rolf Finds Its Angles for Fall 2024 Haute Couture

Viktor & Rolf loves high fashion that doubles as sculpture — this is the brand that's sent gravity-defying ballgowns and bold block-letter swimsuits down its runways. For its Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection, it leaned into boxy, more angular shapes, while referencing one of its most iconic shows.

Titled "Haute Abstraction," Viktor & Rolf's latest aims to morph the body and draw it a new using sharp, unconventional lines. It's shapewear in the most literal sense: triangular necklines, circular skirts, spherical bodices and ultra-structured boxy blazers (i.e. the final boss of the shoulder pads trend). The curves, especially, are reminiscent of the brand's seminal Fall 1998 Haute Couture collection, titled "Atomic Bomb," which was largely built around similarly ballooned silhouettes around the shoulders and neckline, mimicking the look of a mushroom cloud.

Designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren also play with prints and patterns, from colorful polka dots to plaids to florals, often accented with ruffled collars, polka dot tights and plenty of bows. The models' hair added to the play on structure, their 'dos molded into a single outstretched wave. Picasso would be proud.
