Disney has released some tantalising details on its upcoming Star Wars hotel, including a short video (further down) teasing its galactic role play features.

The themed hotel, which is being built alongside the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, will resemble a starship from the Star Wars universe and will "combine luxury with complete immersion into an authentic Star Wars story", according to a post on the Disney Parks blog.

Upon arrival, guests will be transported to the hotel via 'space shuttle', becoming 'citizens of the galaxy' in the process (complete with proper attire) and ready to join an immersive multi-day experience brought to life by interactive stories and fleshed-out characters.

A short graphic video released by Disney hints that one of the activities involves fighting in a space battle between the New Republic and the First Order, with guests accomplishing tasks in the ship's control room while X-wings and TIE fighters zip past the windows.

Speaking of windows, Disney has also promised a view of space from each of the resort's planned 400 guest rooms. A stay will reportedly cost between $900 to $1,000 (£700 to £780) per person for a two-night, all-inclusive stay.

The price will also include entrance to the adjacent theme park, which the Disney Parks Blog says will connect with the hotel 'seamlessly' when both eventually open, supposedly in 2019.

Details of the park itself have also emerged, chief among them the revelation that visitors will be able to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a secret mission.

As part of the immersive experience, the park's resident characters will respond differently to you depending on how you perform - completing the mission and landing the ship successfully will elicit a more positive response in the Mos Eisley cantina (a confirmed feature) than you'll get if you nosedive into the dirt.

Disney has also given a sneak peak at some of the toys available to buy from the Toydarian street market (named after the business-minded species first introduced in the Phantom Menace). These include stuffed toys of Star Wars characters such as Yoda, Chewbacca and the puffin-like Porgs introduced in the latest movie, The Last Jedi.
