"I'm kind of a 'less is more' person – but I say that, and have 100 products on my counter!" admits Rita Ora, laughing. The 33-year-old singer-songwriter and founder of Typebea, a health-focussed haircare line, is taking Harper's Bazaar on a tour of her beauty bag, featuring all the buys that she swears by.

"When you do what I do, there are a lot of eyes on you all the time, so you almost over-criticise and look at yourself," she reflects in the video, above. "But you have to be comfortable in your skin – and all these products really make me feel at home."

Her approach to beauty has evolved "tremendously", she explains, in that while she still employs the artistry as a tool to experiment and express herself, she takes a more considered approach. "I've always been committed to 'the look' and I still am – I'll dye my hair crazy colours or wear make-up that won't come off for days on end – but now I'm more cautious."

Off-stage, her beauty staples include the Weleda Skin Food, which describes as the "juiciest, most hydrating face cream"; the Naked Sundays SPF50 Clear Glow Sun Stick; the Pro Master Lash Curler and Signature Red Slant Tweezer by Tweezerman ("I'm Eastern European so I always have a tweezer with me..."); 11Skin's Celestial Black Diamond Eye Mask; and the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which "is just so amazing". This caring approach extends to her hair, too, with scalp health central. Her Typebea G1 Overnight Boosting Peptide, which is "pretty damn good – even if I do say so myself," aids hair growth with three months use. It echoes the biggest lesson she's learnt with hair care being that "you have to be consistent to see results".

Make-up wise, her can't-live-without is the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo. "I've had this since the beginning of time," she says in the video, "under no circumstances will this ever be replaced because it does everything – contour, highlight, lips – everything". This, plus the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish – which "makes everything flawless, no pores" – are key to her radiant complexion.

That said, Ora does invest in serious skincare treatments, she shares. For facials, she sees the "incredible" machine queen Keren Bartov ("it's definitely painful but it's great!"), while at home she regularly employs a gua sha to "lift my face up". In fact, now in her early 30s, suddenly all she wants to do is "lift and hydrate," she says, laughing. Another way she achieves "an instant face lift" is with her Amy Jean Brow Lacquer, which she uses to tint and brush up her brows.

When it comes to fragrance, she spritzes her travel-sized Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Magnolia Alba eau de parfum, adding that she doesn't have a 'signature scent' as such but loves "anything flowery and fresh". Beauty is a feeling, she offers, adding that she feels her best after a good night's sleep or meal. "Maybe beauty is being happy?" she theorises, beaming as she does so.
