This year, Monét was nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical (which she won!); Best R&B Album (which she also won!); and Best New Artist for Jaguar II. She was also nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Hollywood,” Best R&B Performance for “How Does It Make You Feel” and Best R&B Song and Record of the Year for “On My Mama.” She’s earned a total of 10 Grammys nominations since 2020.

Her nominated track “Hollywood” features Earth, Wind & Fire and her two-year-old daughter, Hazel, making her the youngest Grammy nominee in history. Hazel also showed up on the red carpet tonight, wearing a matching look with Monét:

In an August 2023 interview with ELLE.com, Monét spoke about making “On My Mama” while having a newborn baby.

“It was the first song I wrote that I liked after having Hazel. When I got back in the studio, I was really kind of depressed and still in this postpartum phase and not really feeling confident,” she shared. “I really didn’t have much to say because I was just breastfeeding and putting her to sleep, and my life was so surrounded by it that I didn’t really have much to offer, and I didn’t wanna make a song about breastfeeding. I had to do a lot of imagination and making things up and imagining my future life, my past life, and kind of skating outside of myself.”
