Victoria Magrath: My Beauty Edit
One of the most well-known content creators of her generation, Victoria Magrath's multi-award-winning fashion and beauty platform In The Frow has empowered her entrepreneurship; the 34-year-old's carefully curated channels bridge gaps between brands and their customers, swayed by what they see.
Magrath's career as a blogger and brand ambassador allows her access to the crème de la crème of innovation and expertise – and her beauty regime reflects this. "I am in a fortunate position, where I am able to delve into the backstory of products and spend time with those that have created them," she tells us. "Nothing gives me the same thrill as getting lost in a scientific trial, or discovering the formulation of a product that promises to make my skin sing." And complementing her signature sartorial elegance (think "timeless classics paired with elevated basics") is a radiant complexion. Always. "I feel most beautiful when my skin is looking it’s best," Magrath admits, ever loyal to products she's passionate about and the treatments she trusts. "Knowledge may be power, but consistency is key!"
Below, Magrath reflects more on her beauty philosophy and shares some insider secrets from both the front row and behind the scenes.
On her beauty philosophy and its evolution...
"I am a firm believer that great skincare is the foundation of a beautiful complexion. Looking good is about having a good base. If you take care of your skin, then everything else will follow.
"As I have grown older, my passion for learning about the science behind what I put on my face has also grown. I am in a fortunate position, where I am able to delve into the backstory of products and spend time with those that have created them. Nothing gives me the same thrill as getting lost in a scientific trial, or discovering the formulation of a product that promises to make my skin sing. In 2023, I travelled to Japan to learn about the scientific prowess of Clé de Peau Beauté. It was a bucket-list experience. I walked away with a mind full of newly found knowledge and a suitcase full of products. It’s important to find what works for you; do your research and establish a routine that you will stick to. Knowledge may be power, but consistency is key!"
On her signature style...
"My approach to beauty is a little bit like my approach to fashion; timeless classics paired with elevated basics for an effortless, radiant look. I want my skin to look like my skin but better, which starts with skincare and a routine that I have perfected over many years. From there, it is all about the glow, a fluffy brow and a subtle contour that accentuates my natural features."
On her morning and evening skincare routines...
"I start my morning routine with a light cleanse followed by the Clé de Peau Beauté Hydro-Softening Lotion. I then apply my serums; my skin is currently loving Le Serum by Clé de Peau Beauté, AlumierMD Acne Balancing Serum and Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Serum. What follows is an eye cream – my favourites are the Lumene Nordic Ageless Eye Cream or the Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Eye Cream.
"For days when I need added hydration, I will opt for the Clé de Peau Beauté La Crème (the richer cousin of the brand’s Protective Fortifying Emulsion). I always finish my routine with an SPF; I never leave the house without it. The Clé de Peau Beauté UV Protective Cream SPF 50+ is wonderful, as is AlumierMD Clear Shield SPF42.
"My nighttime routine is somewhat similar, minus the SPF and with a couple of small changes. I will add the AlumierMD Retinol Resurfacing Serum and swap out the Protective Fortifying Emulsion for Clé de Peau Beauté's Intensive Fortifying Emulsion. I also love using the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask – I use it up to four times a week for optimum results."
On looking camera-ready...
"For days that I want to look put-together but I don’t want to wear a full face of make-up, I will opt for the Lumene CC Colour Correcting Cream and a dab of the new Eborian Super BB Concealer-Serum. Of course, my skincare routine is a non-negotiable, but these products promise a gorgeous glow late into the afternoon."
On the industry inside tips to know...
"The power of a good blush! So often make-up artists will use a liquid lip product, or a multi-use cheek and lip tint in spots you wouldn’t expect. I love applying a pop of colour to the high points of the face, including my cheekbones, up to the brow bone, across my eyelids and to the bridge of my nose. It’s such an easy way to look and feel your best, with minimal effort or intricacy."
On caring for her hair...
"Credit for my hair must go to Larry King, Redken and Dyson. I am obsessed with the Redken Acidic Gloss range; the Glass Gloss treatment keeps my hair colour looking super-shiny between salon appointments."
On evolving her hair colour...
"My colourist, Amy Fish at Larry King Salons, calls it 'bronzed blonde' – “a subtle, natural-looking base blended with a pop of sun-kissed spotlights around the face”. It is, without a doubt, my favourite hair colour to date. I feel sophisticated and effortless, perhaps even a little more mature. The grow-out is fairly soft too… Colour that looks great for longer, what’s not to love?"
On pro beauty treatments...
"I visit Alexandra Teleki at the HotBlend salon for my nails. We tend to opt for neutral colours with a twist – think chrome or satin finishes.
"I love to visit Emma at Atelier Aesthesis on Harley Street for Profhilo (to stimulate collagen production by injecting hyaluronic acid beneath the skin) and injections of polynucleotides (which kickstarts skin regeneration). I have seen fantastic results from both treatments."
On home beauty rituals...
"I absolutely love taking some time to myself to perform my skincare routine – it’s the perfect wind-down after a busy day. My favourite step at present is my CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask. I use the 10 minutes it takes for it to work its magic to meditate and prepare my body for sleep, promoting calmness to keep those pesky night terrors at bay!"
