Vicky Pattison, the former Geordie Shore star, has defended her decision to leak her own deepfaked sex tape made for Channel 4's new documentary, My Deepfake Sex Tape. During an emotional interview on Lorraine Kelly's show, she discussed the controversy surrounding the series, which premieres tonight on Channel 4, reports the Mirror.

Responding to Lorraine's comment about the documentary causing a lot of controversy and people judging her without watching it, Vicky said: "Let me just say, I completely understand that this has been a divisive way to go about sharing the information about fake AI and to try and spread awareness. We've been loud and we've been deliberate and I know that it has ruffled some feathers."

She added: "Anybody who feels any type of way about it, I completely understand the feelings, that they're valid and I'm not trying to trivialise them."

She also revealed that last year, there were more than double the number of deepfake porn videos on the internet than in 2022. "There's over 300 of these new apps now - within a month of one of them launching, 600,000 nice normal women had their pictures deepfaked," she said.

Discussing the documentary, which features a deepfaked porn video of Vicky, Lorraine commented: "The content, obviously we can't show it. In the documentary, it's blurred - but we are not just talking about somebody you see in the movies, people having sex in films, that happens a lot. This is really hardcore. It is ghastly."

Vicky responded: "It's, listen, the issue of consent, Lorraine, is not nothing new and you know that, and this, the issue of violence against women is nothing new, but this is the latest iteration in that wave of abuse and violence against women, and it's terrifying. They are not only taking away a woman's consent, a woman's right - a woman's right to choose - what they're creating in the most case is very degrading, it's very violent, and it's terrifying."

Later in the conversation, Vicky became visibly emotional when expressing her concerns about the impact of deepfake porn on future generations. "The bit that always gets me is that I got married last year - Erc and I would love to try and start for a family. What world are we bringing little girls up in? " she said, becoming tearful.

Lorraine Kelly said the deepfake video of Vicky that was shared in the documentary was "hardcore" and "ghastly"

"What are we teaching young lads? This problem, it is affecting women as we've seen the technology doesn't even register a man's body, but it is affecting girls as well. It's affecting children."

In the documentary, Vicky has taken on the role of producer and director, creating scenes where her own face is digitally superimposed onto an actress's body to highlight the dangers of deepfake technology. Despite her intentions, some viewers criticised the star, with a victim of porn abuse branding it "deeply disrespectful" and dismissing it as a "PR stunt".

The TV personality was reportedly "upset" by these remarks, as exclusively reported by The Mirror. A source disclosed: "Vicky is upset about the response," adding, "She is trying to do good and raise awareness of a serious issue".

You can watch Vicky Pattison: My Deepfake Sex Tape at 10pm on Tuesday evening, January 28, Channel 4. The documentary will also be available on Channel 4+.
