Vicky McClure shares her experience of Soccer Aid alongside famous friends
Vicky McClure took to Instagram yesterday (13 June) to share her experience supporting Soccer Aid Week 2023.
In a video captioned, “Was it just my imagination?! 🤳🤩♥️Hard to describe @socceraid but I’ve just had the best 4 days with the best group of people.”
The Line of Duty star also thanked those who donated to the cause, writing, “THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who donated!! You are helping children all over the world to live safer, happier lives and saving lives. It’s a huge honour to be a part of @socceraid for @unicef_uk ⚽️💙”
The 40-year-old returned to Soccer Aid as an England coach for the second time, with others on the management team including ex-Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes, and rapper Stormzy.
The video features selfies of Vicky with other famous faces who played, including Tom Hiddleston, Usain Bolt, Danny Dyer, ex-Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott, and Sex Education's Asa Butterfield.
This year, the world’s biggest celebrity football match raised over £14 million to help keep children safe across the globe.
The match took place in Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium, where the very first Soccer Aid game was held in 2006. The match ended 4-2 to Soccer Aid World XI FC.
This comes after she appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain days before Soccer Aid, and said she would channel her “inner Brian Clough”.
Her co-star, Martin Compston, played for the ‘rest of the world’ team.
