Vicky McClure reveals her surprising 'perfect weekend'

From Red Online

When you imagine the weekend of a BAFTA-award-winning actor you probably envisage glitzy parties, fancy restaurants where foie gras pâté is as common as tap water and a indulgent series of treatments at a chic local spa.

So Vicky McClure's answer to the question 'what is your perfect weekend?' might surprise you. Red Magazine's April cover star, best known for her role as Lol Jenkins in Shane Meadows’s film This is England and its Channel 4 spin-off mini-series, talked about all things life during her time with us, but it was her description of an ideal weekend that perhaps most enchanted us.

‘Every time I say this, I think, “For God’s sake, Vicky, don’t,” but I can’t lie: Saturday is cleaning day!' she explains. 'For me, there is nothing nicer than chilling in a nice, clean house. Then Jonny (her husband the producer and actor Jonny Owen) comes in and I shout, “DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!”

And when she isn't cleaning, she's nipping to Tesco:

'Me and my sister go to Tesco all the bloody time. We know all the staff. I like normality and stability. My job is spontaneous and unorganised, but home is where I’m in control. I can do what I want, and that’s ordinary stuff.’

What about when the cleaning is done then? Surely it's on to decadent tasting menu?

Nope, it's a roast at her parents: 'If not, we slob around in PJs, eating a full-English breakfast.'

Oh Vicky, we've never felt more A-list in our lives!
