We've tried and tested the most raved about UK hair salons to bring you the very best
Finding the right hairdresser can be harder than finding a cute date (there's no Tinder for hair salon soulmates). And I don't know about you, but it's taken a whole lot of stress, deep conditioner and Tangle Teezer's to get my hair in a place I'm happy not mad about, so the idea of giving someone carte blanche to chop and change my locks, fills me with dread.
That's why we've started a list of hair salons that are a cut above (soz) the rest. Each is known for pioneering the best-in-industry techniques, has received countless rave reviews, and has built up a chunky list of happy clients.
Visit one of the pit-stops below for a haircut or colour and I can guarantee your hair will be in good hands...
Best hair salons
STIL salon, Chelsea
As envious as it makes this British girl to say, Scandi girls have the best hairstyles. FACT. But ain't nobody got the time (nor money) to fly to Copenhagen for a quick chop... so, we sought out one of the best Scandi-influenced hair salons in the UK. Enter: STIL.
What they specialise in: Founded by Swedish colourist and one of London's leading blonde experts, Christel Barron-Hough, the salon is well-versed in all things hair transformation. From perfect pastels and copper red to vibrant blues and rich brunettes, Christel has every colour covered; all created with fashion trends and catwalk influence in mind. But the salon's talents don't stop at Christel, for she's enlisted a line-up of A1 styling experts.
Neale Rodger, who previously worked at Hershesons (a salon mentioned below), took on the task of refreshing my bob and adding some cool-girl midi bangs. He took my Pinterest inspo pic and nailed the assignment, alongside great chat and a menu of on-tap refreshments.
So, if you're after a cool cut for 2025, you know where to go.

Cobella, Kensington
Cobella, located on High Street Kensington in London, is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional hair. Owned by the multi-award-winning Jordanna Cobella, this luxurious salon is known for its expert team, including Gabriel, whose styling skills are second to none. Plus, the in-house spa provides the perfect opportunity to unwind. With its welcoming vibe, cocktails and coffees on offer mid-treatment, and unrivalled expertise, Cobella truly sets the standard for top-tier salons in London.
What they specialise in: Offering everything from classic cuts and colouring to hair extensions and innovative hair loss treatments, Cobella caters to all your needs under one roof.
Hare & Bone, Fitzrovia
Hair consultations can sometimes feel a bit of a box-ticking exercise. As if the stylist has already made their mind up about what they’re going to do with your hair, and therefore isn’t really listening. That is definitely not the case at Hare & Bone, a chic salon in Fitzrovia that specialises in making sure that each customer gets a truly personalised hair cut, that’s both trend-led but also everyday wearable.
I was seen by Sophia, who has specialised training in curly hair so I felt in super safe hands, as she talked me through the cut and colour. She also offered genuinely useful advice for how to maintain the style, in between appointments that wasn’t just upselling products. I’ve been washing my hair way too much it turns out, oops. I left with copper-red curls and was complimented almost straight away, leaving the salon. The entire team has been picked by Creative Director and award-winning hairstylist Sam Burnett, whose vision has been shaped by his own work with global brands on international campaigns. This has resulted in a friendly team who are continually trained on the latest styles and trends, but who also get to know their clients' lives and personalities and combine the two so everyone leaves feeling like they got the hairstyle that’s right for them.
What they specialise in: Personalisation. Consultations consider everything from the bone structure of the face, to what sort of lifestyle you lead (Sophia spotted that I’m a bit of a hippy and needed my hair to match that.)

Neil Moodie Studio, Old Spitalfields Market
From the moment you step through the door of the Old Spitalfields Market salon, you’ll feel incredibly pampered. The ethos is simple – fabulous hair and an equally fabulous, luxe experience. Hair icon and salon founder Neil Moodie and team want the stylish mid-century modern salon to be accessible to all, and for appointments to not feel out of reach or, equally, like something you simply have to do every 12 weeks to maintain your mane. From the massage chairs while you get your hair washed to the TV conveniently located in the bathroom, no expense has been spared when it comes to comfort.
The team of creative directors, stylists and colourists are hugely talented and offer services for all hair types, plus there’s a gender-neutral pricelist. They also have an in-house luxury manicurist, Jada Ellize, if you fancy doubling up on your pampering. As well as Chanel polishes, Jada uses HEMA Free gel polish by the Gel Co. London.
What they specialise in: Making you feel like a VIP. As mentioned above, the salon boasts a really skilled team who can nail any colour request from balayage to bleach, alongside your cut or treatment.
Ena Salon - Holborn, London
I’ve never wished that I lived in a hair salon until visiting Ena. Set in a *beautiful* Georgian townhouse with original stained glass windows, reclaimed furniture, and print photographs by one of their own stylists, it’s totally homely.
Owned by best friends Pedro and Johnny who both came through Vidal Sassoon, their four floors offer cutting, styling and colouring – the open display colour bar is a thing of beauty – plus, treatments. Eco-minded, it’s the UK flagship for sustainable brand Davines (they also offer Olaplex and K18 treatments, FYI). Not forgetting hair extensions, too. They basically do it all, and, in the prettiest of settings. Oh, and you can visit their in-house osteopath or book in a wax on the top floor. Ena Salon = ultimate self-care.
What they specialise in: If your hair is in need of a lil SOS (yes, hi, me) their treatments are the dream. I tried the recently launched and mega-popular Davines Naturaltech tailoring treatment which begins with a deep dive consultation to determine your primary and secondary hair concerns. Whether it’s hydration, volume, radiance, fortifying, blonde brightening (the list goes on) the treatment is catered to exactly what you need. Such a bespoke luxury. Months later and my moisturised locks are still feeling the effects.

Samantha Cusick - Liverpool Street, Fitzrovia, and Notting Hill
Samantha Cusick now has three vibrant locations across London - Liverpool Street, Fitzrovia, and Notting Hill. Tucked among trendy cafes and boutiques, each salon exudes Miami beach vibes, from the palm leaf wallpaper and Millennial pink accents to the rose gold pineapples and geo-framed mirrors. With influencers and TV stars frequently posting from the salon’s chic interiors, we can confirm the buzz is more than justified.
What they specialise in: Colour and balayage – especially for all you blondes out there – if you're craving a refresh, one look at their Instagram will have you rushing to book an appointment. Feeling a little extra? They can even add some sparkle with fun hair tinsel. Each salon also features its own cocktail bar, offering complimentary drinks while you sit back and let their talented team of stylists work their magic. Whether you’re after a bold transformation or a subtle refresh, you’ll leave feeling like a million bucks.

Gielly Green - West London
Brought to life 15 years ago, Gielly Green's flagship store – located on George Street in Mayfair – is just as stylish and well-kempt as it once was, thanks to its co-founder, Shai Greenberg. Shai is a hands-on creative, still cutting on the shop floor and thanks to him, I'm now rocking the sharpest, most shiny bob haircut I've ever had.
However, if he's not available to book for an appointment, one of his talented team sure will be. Top tip: If you do visit the Gielly Green salon, request hair assistant, Nini's signature head massage... life-changing, truly.
What they specialise in: Other than the usual styling, colouring, treatments, extensions and bridal options (I mean, that's already a mammoth offering!), Gielly Green provides aesthetics treatments, massages and waxing as well as eyebrow and nail appointments, too. It's a big ol' salon, I'm telling ya!
The treatments are set out across three floors that centre around hair but divide off into sections.
Oh, and if you're feeling a bit peckish, they even have their own food bar and Italian chef on the ground floor. Walk out with a fresh cut, tamed brows and a full stomach. Winning!

Billi Currie - West London
Located on one of Marylebone’s most stylish streets, Billi Currie is an award-winning hair salon offering a whole host of hair treatments (cut, colour, styling – the works). The salon itself is sleek and sophisticated, an intimate set-up split over two floors in which the team of international stylists often work collaboratively together to create their client’s dream ’do.
What they specialise in: Of-the-moment colours and trend-led cuts, implementing ahead of the curve techniques to achieve both. Going well beyond just asking what you want, each appointment starts with a consultation discussing your lifestyle and aesthetic to create the perfect style for you that lasts well after you leave the Billi Currie sanctuary. Rather than giving that obvious “spent hours in the salon” look, the result is your hair, but *much* better. We’ve had appointments with both Chris Donohue and Alina Ojog, and have not been disappointed after either visit.

Sisters Salon - West London
Set up by (you guessed it!) two sisters, Emma and Ashley’s salon in the heart of Sloane Square opened in 2022. Offering a relaxed and friendly feel from the get-go, every treatment comes with a proper consultation, so the stylists can really get a feel for what you’re after, as well as share the advice and guidance they’ve built up over a collective 20 years.
Alongside all the usual hair treatments, like bouncy blowdries or a head of highlights and tone, Sisters Salon also offer the full beauty works, with services like waxing, microblading and brows available in a downstairs studio. Essentially, a Princess Diaries makeover is on the cards, should that be what you’re after!
What they specialise in: As we mentioned, quite literally everything. But Sisters is making a name for themselves in the extensions department, thanks to the fact they’re ethically sourced and created exclusively for them, to give you that natural feel you might not be able to get elsewhere. They’re also brilliant at blondes, and will create a custom offering to suit what you might need. Root smudge? Face framing? Creamy blonde, with not a hint of yellow? Tick, tick, tick.

Larry King - West London
Session stylist, Larry King, has worked with a-list stars across the world, including the likes of Jared Leto, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and the Delevingne sisters.
Larry opened his flagship hair salon in South Kensington, in January 2017, and it's since become one of the most popular hair spots in London.
What they specialise in: Pretty much everything, tbh. Cuts, colour, you name it. But if you're ever in the market for luxury hair extensions (think model-like lengths, with zero TOWIE vibes), then book in for a consultation with Vicky Demetriou, she's possibly the best hair extensionist in London, tending the manes of the likes of Kristen Stewart and Alicia Vikander.

Lush Hair Lab - Brighton
Did you know that Lush Cosmetics have their very own hair salon? Well, neither did I until earlier this year when I discovered the brand had branched out into the world of cutting and dyeing with its very first standalone flagship salon in Brighton! So, as one does, I headed down to the seaside town to experience all that they had to offer…
What they specialise in: The lab, as they call it, offers a range of treatments including botanical hair washing with hard and soft water selections, herbal head spa experiences, hair cuts, henna dye treatments and styling. Plus, it's also an exclusive hair product retail shop and café!
When I attended, not only did I receive the best f*ck ass bob haircut I've ever had – courtesy of Yo Alexxi Kruiz – but I was also treated to my very first herbal head spa treatment by Junu Ye (spoiler: the dreamy 90-minute session had me falling asleep with rain music playing and head, leg and arm massages... aka, the works!).
To say this hair appointment changed my life would be an understatement... how ever will I go back to a regular cut and colour sesh?!
Bleach London - East and South London
If you’re anything like us, you would know Bleach London as a leading box-colour brand in the drugstore. *War flashbacks of my experimental (yet still temporary!) lilac hair phase circa 2013* However, not only do they provide professional standard at-home colour kits, but Bleach London also hosts two IRL salons in London where you can get your hair bleached, dyed and/or cut! The OG flagship is located in Dalson and the second is south of the river in Brixton.
What they specialise in: Whether you want to go neon green or are after more of a natural brunette hue, no shade is off limits when it comes to London’s no.1 colour salon. Though, professionally speaking, the team will always readvise if your hair health is likely to be compromised in doing so – which we, ofc, always appreciate!
Now, while Bleach is known for its bleach (duh) and colouring products, the expert stylists in-house are well-versed in cutting and styling hair, too. Tom Gear was the genius behind my summer hair colour refresh, making sure to cater to my every need when styling my lengths. In other words, he created a ~whole~ Pinterest mood board to ensure my every textured bob fantasy was fulfilled. You're doing God's work, Tom.
So, if you’re after the full shebang, look no further. Plus, all colour services include a toner, Plex treatment and blow dry for the very best results! Winning!

Aveda - Covent Garden
If you've ever tried Aveda's heavenly-smelling hard-working hair products, this salon does not disappoint. It's located near Covent Garden but it will feel like you're miles away from the hustle and bustle in this airy space.
You can treat yourself to everything from a haircut to a scalp treatment to a facial – the limit doesn't exist when it comes to how long you can camp out at Aveda's salon. Did we mention it's hijab-friendly too? Yep, you can book into one of the salon's rooms to give yourself some privacy for no extra charge.
What they specialise in: Colour, specifically redheads. Yes, I might be biased (as an Aveda-given redhead), but whenever a fellow pro does my hair, they always say 'Did you go to Aveda for your colour?' – apparently, their red hues are legendary and I can see why. I blindly trust Technical Education Director, Susann Hohlfeld, with my life hair.

Josh Wood - West London
Nestled behind organic food shops, local delis and even a Buns From Home, Josh Wood is thriving in an unsuspecting mews house behind Holland Park station. The bustling yet chic salon is the perfect escape for a few hours of uninterrupted pampering, and with a team of highly attentive colourists and stylists, you can be sure you'll leave the salon with the haircut you were dreaming of.
What they specialise in: Like their in-store line of haircare and colour products, the salon makes for a dream team of colourists and stylists, famed for their ability to create personalised colour, tailored for the individual.
Complimentary drinks and gorgeous bathrooms are also part of the package, and if you've made it all the way to West London for your cut and colour you can treat yourself to a walk in gorgeous Holland Park after, making sure the world knows your hair has never looked better.

Hari's Salon - West London
When it comes to super-chic London hairdressers, Hari's Fulham Road salon is one of the very best. The salon is warm, welcoming and relaxing, there's no pretentious vibe and no scary stylists, it's just a great place to sip a coffee whilst they work a little magic on your tresses. The salon itself has one of the dreamiest interiors, ever, with a botanical-inspired theme and plant-based menu on tap.
What they specialise in: Again, a multi-tasker when it comes to all things hair. The colour services are second to none, the salon is forever innovating with cool new techniques and in the process, setting colour trends across the hair industry.
The newest service, Wet-Lights, is a restorative colour treatment for over-processed bleach blondes and brassy brondes. It takes under an hour and is 50% faster and 50% healthier than all other traditional colour treatments. Smart, huh?

Hershesons - Belgravia
There's a whole lot of competition to be crowned London's best hair salon, but OG Hershesons has long remained one of the most-talked-about hairdressers in the game. Despite all the new buzz-worthy salon launches, Hershesons remains a cult spot for those who want the highest quality cuts and colours.
What they specialise in: Colour has always been at the forefront of the salon's mind, and they're constantly on the lookout for new ways to re-invent traditional techniques to give clients a finish like no other.
The Berners Street space is way more than just a salon, with its own cafe, nail bar, brow technician, in-house Sunday Riley facialist and waxing expert, it's an all-star beauty destination.

Transport back to the 1950s with this kitchen concept salon in the heart of Angel, Islington, that offers full salon and barbering services – after all, who hasn't had their hair done in the kitchen? Quirky aesthetics aside, if you’re after environmentally conscious colouring services that use natural ingredients, PPD-free and ammonia-free products, then look no further because the Kevin Murphy brand is at the heart of Kitch.
What they specialise in: The Kitch team and salon encourage people's differences and celebrate individuality, treating everyone as equals by providing a price list based on hair length, time and products, not gender.

Not Another Salon - Brick Lane, Shoreditch
Located in the heart of Shoreditch on Brick Lane, Not Another Salon may have an interior larger than life (I’m talking rubber ducks on the walls) but it’s anything but intimidating. The team may love brightly coloured transformations but they also are all for a more natural look. Whatever it is that you’re after, however, hair health and condition is their no.1 priority – and we love to hear it. In other words, you’re in safe and capable hands!
What they specialise in: Not Another Salon has a ‘no judgment policy’, acknowledging anxiety and neurodiversity with services such as mirrorless and silent haircuts. The environment itself is a warm and friendly one, celebrating the LGBTQA+ community and those of every age and race, ability or belief.
