We need to talk about Jared—again. As we have reported before, the American shopping center staple has been steadily building up its haute joaillerie oeuvre over the last few years. One might argue the mega-retailer is now as much a source for simple mementos to mark life’s milestones as it is a place where you can discover unique pieces laced with rare Colombian emeralds and fancy yellow diamonds.

For its third Jared Atelier high jewelry collection—which coincides with Jared’s 30th anniversary—the brand turned to Vera Wang, a longtime collaborator, to design a one-of-a-kind suite of 14 pieces. “This felt like the perfect moment to create something truly special,” Wang tells T&C. “This collection reflects my personal passion for jewelry and mirrors the duality of my design philosophy: the edgy “Black Swan” aesthetic of my haute couture and the romantic “White Swan” essence of my bridal collections.”

Nods to Wang’s preternaturally cool sensibilities and design signatures are evident throughout the collection, which makes use of 150 carats of diamonds and is crafted around three motifs: a serpent, a ribbon, and a diamond string. The serpent represents rebirth and transformation, a timely metaphor for 2025, which will be the Year of the Snake. Ribbons are a hallmark of Wang’s coveted wedding dresses and they are rendered here with a more contemporary edge. And the sinuous diamond strings—versatile constructions that can be knotted into bows, tied together, or strung loosely with je ne sais quoi flair—represent a sense of freedom. Or, as Wang puts it, “a liberating and sensual way to wear diamonds, breaking away from traditional styles.”

Each piece is totally personal and is something Wang herself would layer into her everyday wardrobe, which includes Hanes muscle T-shirts and wool bras, military vests and oversized men’s shirts—and that is how she envisions the future owners of these jewels to wear them, too. “It’s about fine jewelry with a nonchalant, modern attitude,” she says.

Adds Jared Jewelers president Claudia Cividino: “This collection marries Vera’s renowned design vision with Jared’s exceptional craftsmanship and quality, offering consumers one-of-a-kind pieces that are truly works of art. Vera’s inspiration for the pieces pull in elements of nature, architecture, and culture and it was an absolute joy to bring her vision to life through jewelry.”
