Marks & Spencer has always been ahead of the game when it comes to quirky hot cross bun flavours. Now the supermarket has expanded its range by launching a vegan version, just in time for Easter.
Traditionally, the seasonal staple is made with butter, eggs and milk, but M&S has developed a bun that is free-from animal products. Flavoured with Bramley apples and loaded with currants, they are fruitier than the original and can be eaten straight from the pack or toasted.
The vegan version is priced at £1.50 for a pack of four and best of all, they will be available all year round, not just in the lead-up to Easter.
"Our Bramley Apple Hot Cross Buns are a longstanding favourite with our customers and best thing is they are now completely vegan," M&S Product Developer, Sadia Usman, said. "Ideal for little ones due to their familiar fruity flavour – this Easter everyone can enjoy a hot cross bun."
In February, M&S launched two new flavours to its growing hot cross bun range. The mini chocolate hot cross buns are loaded with chocolate chips. The golden hot cross buns include sultanas, raisins, goldenberries and a dollop of honey. This means the selection now includes nine different flavours, from fruity blueberry and zesty marmalade to indulgent salted caramel. That's teatime sorted.
