Vanessa Feltz praised by ITV viewers as she has mammogram live on This Morning

This Morning’s Vanessa Feltz has been flooded with sweet support from viewers as she had a mammogram - an X-ray on the breast to check for breast cancer- live on-air.

During Monday’s (February 24) episode of the ITV hit chat show, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley announced that Vanessa would be having a mammogram and would be taking viewers along with her.

The TV star, 63, wanted to broadcast the procedure to show worried viewers that it was nothing to worry about.

Just moments before, Venesse was standing outside the mobile unit as she explained: “I’m getting ready to do my live mammogram. I can’t wait to have my mammogram and if you get your invitation to, make sure you go and have your test.”

She then spoke to two women who had a mammogram which went on to save their lives as they were later diagnosed with breast cancer. While having her own x-ray done, the broadcaster spoke to those watching at home and reassured them about any concerns they may have while the nurse went about the check.

It didn’t take long for fans watching at home to share their reaction as they praised the star for her vulnerability. One viewer wrote on X: “Fair play to Vanessa!!! Love that woman #ThisMorning.”

Another said: “A big cheer for the great Vanessa Phelps for having a mammogram live on air, brilliant. She's smiling but it's a brave thing to do live #ThisMorning.”

A third praised: “This is not a joking matter. Good on Vanessa for doing this live.”' One questioned: “I can’t believe people are horrified at the sight of a MAMMOGRAM on telly man, never seen a nip before?”

Meanwhile one added: “Jokes aside, fair play to Vanessa for doing this, it’s a little uncomfortable (literally for a few seconds) but not painful, and can save your life! #ThisMorning.”

Vanessa has spent years encouraging others to check themselves for cancer symptoms after opening up about her mother's cancer diagnosis back in 2023.

The TV presenter's mother died aged 57 in 1995 after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of endometrial cancer, but revealed that it was spotted too late by doctors.
