This may be one of the trickiest sex positions you'll try
Sometimes, sex positions actually resemble their names. Case in point: the wheelbarrow. It's a fun one that mirrors that essential gardening and construction implement, where one person is the mover and the other is the, er, tool. It ups the adrenaline by testing the receiver's upper-body strength, the giving partner's grip strength, and both parties' co-ordination and endurance. Switch it up and approach things from a whole new direction. Here's how to do the wheelbarrow sex position, plus benefits and variations.
How to do the wheelbarrow sex position
A) The receiver starts on all fours.
B) The penetrating partner picks up the receiver's legs, standing between them and holding them like wheelbarrow 'handles'. Or, they grab their hips, which allows the receiver to grip the penetrating partner's waist with their thighs.
C) The receiver is now supporting themselves on their hands with extended arms, which is a great opportunity to exercise that core, tricep and shoulder strength.
Benefits of the wheelbarrow sex position
Angle of penetration stimulates the A-spot ('anterior' spot, located at the front wall of the vagina, close to the cervix and G-spot
Allowing for deeper vaginal or anal penetration
An amazing view of your assets for the penetrating partner
An arm workout for the receiver
Variations of the wheelbarrow sex position
1. Kneeling wheelbarrow
A) Here, the penetrating partner is on their knees, allowing for more support. Use pillows or a cushion underneath knees for added comfort.
2. Seated wheelbarrow
This position is like the standing wheelbarrow, but the giving partner is seated on a surface.
A) The giver sits at the edge of a bed or chair.
B) The receiver places their bum on the giver's lap, facing away from them. Tipping over, they place their hands on the floor and stretch their legs out behind the giver's waist.
3. The lazy wheelbarrow
A) The lazy wheelbarrow is similar to the seated wheelbarrow, but the receiver does not stretch their legs out behind the giver's waist. Instead, they stay in a crouched position with their legs in front of the giver's legs and their stomach resting on their thighs.
4. Modified wheelbarrow
A) A more sustainable option is to have the receiver holding onto a surface like a chair, bed or table for added support for the upper body, and so the body is placed more comfortably in a horizontal position.
B) The giving partner holds onto one leg instead of two. If this still requires too much balancing, the receiver can put both feet on the ground.
5. The wanton wheelbarrow
A) An extra spicy version of the conventional position, the wanton wheelbarrow requires the receiving partner to have one leg raised by the giver's shoulder.
