Popular Japanese retailer Uniqlo has announced an inspiring new collection, which comes hand-in-hand with a charitable angle.

The high-street brand’s upcoming Batik Motif range has been created to benefit the women working in its Indonesian factories, with a cut of all sales set to fund projects to help them boost their education and learn a range of living skills.

The new line has been created using the traditional Indonesian Batik print - a pattern created by joining multiple dots and lines and will be available from the June 10.

This isn’t the first time the company has pledged to help the women who work for the garment company. Back in April, Uniqlo’s programme to help empower their female employees started in their Bangladesh factory.

The women created a female-only collection inspired by the country’s traditional saris. Since the project, a survey has shown the workers have seen a great improvement in their working environment. Morale and health standards are up and there’s been a 36 per cent decline in sick leave.

With hundreds of Uniqlo stores worldwide and increasing amounts of stores in the UK, it’s great to hear that the conscientious brand is trying to give something back.
