Your beauty regime doesn’t have to render you bankrupt. There are plenty of DIY products that you can make at home, using the ingredients that you’ve got in your cupboards.

Coffee is one great example. It has a multitude of benefits – from giving your circulation a boost to tightening and firming and subsequently minimising cellulite, you can transform beans the granules into everything from scrubs to serums to give your skin a little loving.

No wonder celebs such as Eva Longoria are said to be fans.

Banish puffy eyes
We all know that coffee is bursting with caffeine, which is brilliant for reducing puffy eyes. You can make your own salve to dab around your eyes with the used grounds from a pot of coffee.

Reduce cellulite
Sadly, there’s no “cure” as such for cellulite, but it can be minimised. And a simple DIY scrub using a couple of spoonful’s of ground coffee will do the trick.

“The caffeine and antioxidants in the coffee grounds stimulate and dilate your blood vessels, which tones and tightens the tissue,” say the experts at The Beauty Place. “The sugar further helps exfoliate and the olive oil gives a big dose of hydration and plumping.”

Purify your skin
Applying a homemade coffee face mask is a great pick-me-up in the mornings. The caffeine will perk up your skin, the coffee granules will clean out your pores and the scent will perk you up.

Darken your hair
You can tint your hair naturally using coffee. Simply brew a strong pot of it, leave it to cool and then pour it into a bowl. Then simply use the coffee to wash your hair with a couple of times before applying your usual shampoo and conditioner.

You’ll see results quickly as the coffee stains your hair darker by a couple of shades.

Brighten your complexion
Make a face mask out of coffee for a quick-fix solution to brighten your skin. Caffeine from the beans absorbs into the skin easily and is thought to help tighten the dilated blood vessels under the skin.

Simply mix some coffee with a little milk and honey and apply it for a free and natural face lift.

Soothe dry feet
Soaking your feet in a big bowl of coffee might seem a little odd, but because it’s a relaxant it can be incredibly soothing after a long day at work.

Mix two and a half cups of freshly brewed coffee with hot water and a bit of sea salt (to exfoliate). You can also add a few drops of vanilla extract to sweeten the scent.

Say goodbye to dark circles
Some people really suffer from dark circles around their eyes – no matter how much sleep they get. They’re caused by oxygenated blood pooled around the eyes and apparently are made worse if you sleep on your stomach. But a DIY coffee-infused serum can help keep those dark patches at bay, leaving you fresh eyed.

Boost your circulation
The caffeine in coffee can be used to rejuvenate the skin and increase the blood flow and Katherine Dorn of Pierre Michel has a very easy way to utilise it. Make coffee ice cubes, she suggests to Daily Makeover.

Simply take one of the cubes each morning and gently rub it around the eye area as well as over your face’s bone structure.

Give your hair some shine
Instead of throwing your used coffee grounds away, add them to your conditioner. They’ll make your hair super shiny and don’t cost you a thing.
