Tyson Fury has revealed that his wife, Paris Fury, tragically had a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy - just hours before his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. The former heavyweight world champion, 36, lost to the Ukrainian in their undisputed showdown in Saudi Arabia on May 18, 2024.

Paris was due to arrive in Riyadh on the Friday, the day before the fight. However, when she called to tell Tyson she wouldn't be making the trip, citing high blood pressure, he knew the real reason. The couple had tragically lost their baby boy, who would have been their eighth child. Despite the heartbreaking loss, Tyson doesn't want it to be seen as an excuse for his first professional defeat.

Ahead of the December 21 rematch, Tyson revealed: "The one that she was having, she lost that on the Friday of the fight, which was pretty s****y." He told The Sun: "I am not making excuses but she was six months pregnant, it’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning, you have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country.

"I could not be there for her in that moment. And that is tough for me. I have been with the woman for longer than I wasn’t with her, so it is hard that I couldn’t be there with her, in that time. When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem. She usually comes out on fight week but she said she had high blood pressure."

He added: She said she couldn’t come and I asked her what was up and asked her to tell me but she wouldn’t. So I knew, I knew, I knew there was a problem. I said to my brother, ‘She’s lost that baby.’" Despite never directly being told, he admitted, "She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew."

Paris and Tyson are already parents to Venezuela, 15, Prince John James, 12, Prince 'Tutty' Tyson, seven, Valencia, six, Prince Adonis Amaziah Fury, five, Athena, three, and one year old Prince Rico Paris. Back in March, Tyson hinted at welcoming their eighth child by sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, captioning a photo of his wife Paris with: "Mother of seven and still beautiful. Still strong and still my rock. #8incoming. Lucky for some."

However, life threw them a curveball as they experienced the pain of miscarriage, an ordeal familiar to the couple following similar losses in 2014 and 2018. Paris chose not to tell Tyson about the devastating loss before his match against Sefer Seferi, carrying the weight silently.

Last year Paris opened up to OK! about the negative comments she's received from social media trolls talking about the size of her and Tyson’s family. She told us: "It's doesn't affect me. I look after them and I protect them all.

"I've seen a few negative comments saying 'oh they've got so many kids' but we're paying for them, we're looking after them, we're feeding them. They're all happy and healthy and they all love each other, so I don't see the problem. I can't see why anyone would look at someone else's journey and judge it.

"If you want no children, one child, 10 children or the Radfords with 22 then best of luck to them all! As long as you're healthy and happy and things are going well then keep going, do what you feel is best."
