TX judge orders Alex Jones to pay full $49 million damages award

Jones was sued by several Sandy Hook families after pushing the conspiracy theory that the 2012 mass shooting was fake. In August, a jury ruled that Jones is liable to pay $45.2 million in punitive damages and $4.1 million in compensatory damages to parents Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis. CNN reports that Texas Judge Maya Guerra Gamble made her ruling in favor of the parents on Nov. 22. In Texas, a cap on damages typically permits plaintiffs to receive up to double the compensatory damages awarded plus up to $750,000.
