Twitter Had a Riotous Reaction to All of Their Faves Sweeping the Emmys

Four months later than originally scheduled, the biggest night in television finally returned, better than ever—and X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) was along for the ride.

The stars from every binge-worthy show on TV gathered tonight at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Black-ish actor and comedian Anthony Anderson serving as host. The ceremony was slated to take place last September, but was postponed due to the historic Hollywood strikes that shut down the entertainment industry last year.

After patiently waiting this whole time, fans finally got to see their favorite onscreen ensembles get their due (or could unleash their wrath on X if their favorite shows didn’t win). Among last night’s nominees were The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White, Succession’s Sarah Snook and Jeremy Strong, and The Last of Us’s Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal.

As expected, the ceremony was rife with viral moments, both on the red carpet and inside the theater. Ahead, we’ve rounded up the best 39 tweets.

First, a moment for the red carpet looks.

Ayo Edebiri and Quinta Brunson kicked off the ceremony with the first Emmy wins of the night—which in turn kicked off a round of celebratory tweets.

Jennifer Coolidge’s hilarious acceptance speech for her second-ever Emmy win inspired another round of tweets.

Pedro Pascal jokingly blamed Kieran Culkin for his broken arm, spawning a bunch of memes.

Niecy Nash-Betts’s first-ever Primetime Emmy win drew emotional reactions.

Unsurprisingly, The Bear swept the night.

The reunited cast of ’90s sitcom Martin went viral …

… and so did Grey's Anatomy’s …

… as well as the ensembles of Cheers, The Sopranos, and Ally McBeal.
