TV star's Eras tour dreams dashed after falling victim to Taylor Swift ticket scam
As Friday rounded off the working week with another entertaining episode of Gogglebox, our favourite armchair critics were once again on hand to weigh in on the week’s most talked about TV shows, while peppering in anecdotes about their daily lives. Typically on the show, most fans tune in to hear a light-hearted commentary from the families taking part. This week, however, sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner also highlighted a very real issue - as Ellie revealed she had fallen victim to a cruel ticketing scam.
As regular viewers may know, Ellie is a huge Taylor Swift fan and had attempted to purchase tickets for the upcoming UK leg of her critically acclaimed Eras tour. Yet despite her initial belief that she was getting a good deal, it soon transpired that this 'Swifty' had actually been conned and swindled out of her hard earned cash.
Explaining the situation to her sister Ellie said: “Can you believe I’ve been scammed this week, buying tickets for Taylor Swift? “ Izzi then interjected and said: “The original scam.”
Ellie then replied: “Yeah! The original scam. It was a phishing scam. I got scammed and I walked straight into the scam. I suspected that the scammer was a scammer - and I asked them if they were a scammer, yet I still went ahead and let myself get scammed.”
Without missing a beat, Izzi at least saw the funny side, as she quipped: “We’re never, ever, ever, going to see Taylor Swift.”
Unfortunately, Ellie isn’t the only person to have been conned for trying to bag themselves some bargain Taylor Swift tickets either, with Lloyds Bank having previously revealed that more than 600 customers had come forward to report that they had been scammed, reports the Telegraph.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour tickets sold out in a flash online and loads of Swifties were left without a way to see their favourite star perform live across the UK. But don't worry, there's still a chance to get tickets and sing your heart out to Blank Space and Wildest Dreams.
Even though the official tickets are pretty much gone, Ticketmaster is selling official resale tickets for her 2024 summer tour when they're up for grabs.
Where can I buy Taylor Swift resale tickets?
While AXS and Ticketmaster are the official websites to buy and resell tickets, depending on availability, you may need to look elsewhere to grab a resale Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticket. Websites such as viagogo and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy spare tickets from other fans.
Viagogo spoke about reselling tickets and said: "Viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the freedom to buy and sell tickets to their favourite live events, safely and securely, backed by a guarantee."
If you're still eager to get your hands on resale tickets for the Eras Tour, here are some websites where you can find them:
However, one crucial thing to note is that Ticketmaster, AEG and AXS have all stated that their tickets should not be re-sold. This means that your tickets could end up being useless if they were found to be bought second-hand.
AXS also released a statement, confirming that tickets purchased anywhere other than at authorised retailers will not be valid. They said: "The only way to obtain a valid ticket for Taylor Swift's shows is via the approved ticket agents. In the UK, the approved ticket agents are: Ticketmaster, AXS or directly through the venue's website.
"In Ireland, the approved ticket agent is Ticketmaster. Any tickets found to be purchased via re-sale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled in accordance with the terms and conditions of sale."
"Through official resale facilities, ticket resale prices are capped to help combat the inflation of ticket prices and put a stop to ticket touting. For more information on official resale facilities, fans should visit the website of their approved ticket agent," they added.
"These resale facilities enable fans to sell their tickets with confidence and empower fans to purchase resale tickets with the assurance that the ticket they are purchasing is genuine."
