Try waistcoat stitch crochet in your next yarn project
If you love crochet, we've got a new stitch you need to try: waistcoat stitch. It's a straightforward technique to master, and created a textured V-shaped stitch, similar to a stocking stitch in knitting. For that reason, waistcoat stitch is also known as knit stitch.
Waistcoat stitch looks great on so many projects, including home accessories and clothing. Crafters across the world have been taking to social media to share their waistcoat stitch crochet projects – and the results have us seriously inspired to get stitching!
Waistcoat or knit stitch is a really easy stitch to master if you've already learned the basic crochet stitches. To begin with, you need to chain however many stitches you'd like, then work a row of UK double crochet. You'll then chain one. For your next row, instead of working the stitches into the top of the row, as you work into the post underneath them. This creates the 'V' shape in the stitch. Continue with this pattern for as long as you'd like your waistcoat stitch piece to measure.
We've rounded up our favourite waistcoat stitch crochet projects from crafters across the world to inspire you to pick up your crochet hook.
Happy stitching!
