Cute elf candy pot
It's always fun to find new and novel ways to present little gifts to others, and these easy elf-themed decorated pots shared by @f-squared on Pinterest are a great idea. They'd be ideal for using as dinner table gifts at Christmas dinner or for the kids to give out as teacher gifts before they break up for Christmas!
If you're lucky, you might be able to find green flower pots online or in the shops, but if not, you can give them a coat of spray paint or wrap the bottom of the pot in green paper.
Paper plate elf hat
This paper plate and pom pom craft shared by @redtedart on Instagram is a great activity to keep the kids busy. Making party hats out of paper plates is ideal for crafting with kids as it's something they can do from start to finish, all by themselves, with just supervision from an adult.
Once a hat is made from the plate, it's then ready to decorate and colour however they like and can be finished off with a big fluffy pom pom on the top.
Rustic wooden bead elf
These adorable felt and wooden bead elf decorations shared by @woodpeckerscrafts on Instagram are the perfect way to add a bit of rustic charm to your tree this year or even use as gift toppers.
The great thing about this craft is that it can be made in whatever colour combination you want, so can easily tie into your Christmas decor scheme. You can get boxes of different sized wooden craft beads for the heads and hands, sheets of craft felt to make the outfits and floristry wire to create the bodies, easily online.
Then you just need to raid your sewing supplies stash to find some embroidery floss to create a hanging loop!
Easy elf card
This elf card is a great paper craft to do with little ones, especially if you cut all the pieces out beforehand! Shared by @lilybygilly on Pinterest, the simple design of this festive card is easy to replicate and can be turned into a fun game of mixing and matching pieces to create a unique Christmas greeting card.
Cricut candy cane elf
What better time to break out the Cricut than for a fun Christmas craft? This clever idea shared by Pinterest user @blogstalker, is a fun way to turn candy canes into something a bit more special.
Using a Cricut machine to cut your paper pieces makes crafting so much quicker and easier, meaning you've got time to make lots of candy cane elves. We love the idea of making enough to give out to kids' classmates instead of Christmas cards!
Woolly elf decoration
Is it an elf, is it a gnome – who's to say? Either way it's an adorable idea for a tree decoration! Shared by Instagram user @lisatutmanoglesby, this wonderful wool and wooden bead DIY is a great way to use up yarn scraps.
Pinecone elf
We love a good pine cone craft, and this one shared on Pinterest by @mjallenrn looks super fun. If you're going out and collecting fresh pine cones to craft with, make sure to give them a week or two to dry out indoors before adding things like paint or glue to them.
Clever crochet elf
Here's a fun DIY elf idea for all the crochet lovers that is perfect for whipping up in an afternoon. Talented crafter @what.amy.made on Instagram shared a picture of her finished amigurumi elfs hanging on her Christmas tree but we think they'd also make a great mantlepiece of shelf decoration.
Salt dough handprint elf
No Christmas tree is complete without a handmade salt dough decoration. This handprint elf idea from @messylittlemons on Pinterest is a super easy craft to do with the kids and makes for a lovely keepsake to be cherished for years to come.
Make sure that your salt dough hand print is completely dry before painting, leaving them to bake in a oven set at a low temperature for a few hours is the best way to do this, just make sure to turn them over a few times during the process so that they dry evenly on all sides. Once painted, you can seal your salt dough ornament with a thin layer of Mod Podge.
