TripAdvisor reveals the cheapest Caribbean islands to visit this spring
If you've been thinking about white-sand beaches and turquoise waters ever since the first Monday in January, this small island in the Caribbean could be just what's needed to shake off the winter blues.
Martinique, an overseas region of France located in the east Caribbean sea, has been named the best-value Caribbean island to travel to this spring in a report by TripAdvisor.
The research, which comes after hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated parts the region last autumn, looked at the destinations which are welcoming travellers and offering good value for money from February to April 2018.
Martinique, which offers flawless beaches, mountainous landscapes and a fusion of Créole and French cuisine, was found to offer the lowest accommodation cost, with an average nightly hotel rate of £126. The report also noted that the week of 30thApril is the least expensive time to travel to the island, when visitors can expect to finds rooms for the cheaper rate of £108 per night.
Cuba was named the second best value region, with with an average nightly hotel rate of £129. And although Barbados was found to be have some of the more expensive room rates, the popular holiday spot offers the highest potential average saving when travelling at the end of April, when savings of up to 33% savings on hotel costs are available.
