Trinny Woodall has opened up about undergoing 16 rounds of IVF, before she had her 19-year-old daughter, Lyla.

The entrepreneur also revealed that she was told her the numerous rounds of IVF had likely brought on early menopause.

Trinny (who will be appearing at Good Housekeeping Live) also spoke candidly about becoming a mother and her relationship with daughter, Lyla, during an on-stage chat with podcast host Sam Baker at Cheltenham Literature Festival.

The conversation was recorded Sam's podcast, The Shift. The podcast focusses on women's experiences in their forties onwards.

Discussing her experience of the menopause, Trinny recalled how she felt like her "mojo had gone."

After trying various avenues, she read a book called The Hormone Solution, written by hormone specialist, Dr Erika Schwartz.

Trinny explained: "I went to see her [Erika] in New York. She just laid it out for me: 'You know, you did 16 rounds of IVF, that's about 16 years off your cycle, because each time you do a round of IVF, you produce 10-12 eggs and that's what you're producing in a year.'"

The Trinny London founder revealed that while her mother had gone through the menopause in her late fifties, she was having symptoms at 43.

"It can be incredibly debilitating and [now] I really do do everything," Trinny said. "I do general hormone treatment, I stimulate my brain, I do meditation, I do strength training four times a week. I want to look after my body tremendously so that it can look after me."

Trinny added that she never regretted her IVF treatment, as she now has her daughter, Lyla, who is currently studying at university in Spain.

"We have a very strong relationship, we speak about eight times a day when I'm away," Trinny said.
