‘I tried Ben & Jerry's new Sundaes – this one is definitively the best’
As any true Ben & Jerry’s fan knows, the famed Vermont-born ice cream brand is always churning out new flavours and dessert creations (and sadly, sending some to the flavour graveyard). From innovative non-dairy offerings to the core line-up of ice cream flavours and fun collabs with celebs, this powerhouse ice cream slayer has a boundless array of options for any craving. New for 2025? Ben & Jerry’s Sundaes Brookies & Cream.
What is Ben & Jerry’s Sundaes?
The brand wanted to recreate the decadence of a classic ice cream sundae in pint form, getting rid of the hassle of creating one yourself. Natalia Butler, a ‘flavour guru’ at Ben & Jerry's responsible for working on the new Sundaes product line, says; ‘It was hard to try to envision how we could put in all the components of a sundae and make it super convenient for our fans to enjoy.’
When brainstorming on the idea, the team turned towards those classic sundae swirls and chunks on top, ‘which are so indulgent and add so much texture,’ explains Butler. ‘We felt it was a great characteristic of a sundae that we could use to bring this pint to life.’
The result? Eight cool Sundae flavours. They sound delicious, but there's only one way to find out if they match up to their names. Like any good reporter, I whipped out the biggest spoon I could find and got to work.
Tried and tasted: My favourite Ben & Jerry’s Sundaes flavours
Cookie Vermont-ster Sundae
This pint is described as ‘a classic vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chip cookies, topped with vanilla whipped topping, fudge swirls and fudge chips.’
The topping on this one looked the most enticing when I opened up all the cartons, and, based on the descriptions, I thought this one would be my favourite out of all the sundaes. Instead, I found it the most basic. I loved the addition of chocolate chip cookies to this ice cream, but I felt like there was a little too much salt in the cookies, which slightly overpowered the more delicate whipped topping and vanilla ice cream. I love a fudge swirl moment and I certainly wouldn't turn down a pint, but this wasn't my favourite.

Choco-lotta Cheesecake Sundae
This one is made with ‘chocolate cheesecake ice cream, chocolate cookies and chocolate chocolate cookie swirls topped with a dreamy vanilla whipped topping, fudge swirls and sea salt fudge chunks.’
I am not a fan of cheesecake so I wasn't sure how I'd like this sundae. At first bite, this pint hits the nail on the head in terms of cheesecake and chocolate flavour. There is just enough cheesecake flavour for fans of the real thing to get that nostalgic bite, but it's subtle enough that even people like me will still enjoy it.
The whipped topping really makes sense in this pint, giving a bit of lightness to contrast the bold chocolate ice cream. This is definitely a pint made for chocolate lovers — it's the dominant flavour throughout, especially when you get a spoonful with the fudge chunks and swirls.

Dulce-Delish Sundae
Made with salted caramel ice cream swirled with pecan toffee pieces and caramel swirls, this one is topped with caramel whipped topping with caramel swirls and ‘satisfying sea salt fudge chunks.’
This whipped topping is what butterbeer dreams are made of. It's light, caramel-y, and super delicious. I like that it just coats the top because it is rather sweet, but as you dig deeper into the carton, you get just the ice cream, which makes for a perfect spoonful. The salted caramel ice cream is not too salty, not too sweet, and when paired with the sea salt fudge chunks, strikes just the right balance. It doesn't even need the toffee pieces, but I won't turn 'em down. Suffice it to say, this one was my clear favourite.

The bottom line
All in all, there wasn't a bad flavour in the bunch. I know, I know, hardly shocking. The whipped topping with added fudge chunks, drizzle, or shavings really added another dimension to your everyday pint of ice cream. I only feel bad for whoever gets left with the bottom of the carton. Ideally, these would have another layer of the topping added somewhere in the middle, but hey, maybe that means it's a single serving?
