The trending tenniscore colours you need to know about
The arrival of summer means grass court season in the tennis calendar, and with Wimbledon on the horizon, tennis fever is likely to reach new heights this year with the tenniscore trend.
Ignited in part due to the new tennis-themed Challengers movie starring Zendaya, Google searches for 'tenniscore' was up by 967 per cent in the last three months alone. But fashionistas aren’t the only tastemakers tapping into this aesthetic – it's trickling its way into interiors, too.
The tenniscore palette immediately makes you think of crisp tennis whites, freshly cut grass, acidic yellow tennis balls, terracotta clay courts and clear blue skies. And it's a colour palette that can be embraced both indoors and in your garden.
'The tenniscore aesthetic is bright, playful and all about clever colour blocking,' says Tash Bradley, colour psychologist and Lick’s director of interior design. 'These are the colours that conjure up the image of a hot summer’s day spent playing tennis or sitting back and watching it all play out with a tall glass of Pimm's in hand.'
Her are six colours which perfectly tap into the tenniscore aesthetic.
White
'A pure white with the lightest touch of grey in its undertones' works best, according to Tash. Keep it clean and simple to create an effortlessly sophisticated space.
Blue
Aim for a sky blue shade to add a calming and balanced feel to your home. It's a colour that will work particularly well in the bathroom or bedroom for a serene atmosphere.
Yellow
While the bright, almost neon, yellow of a tennis ball is the first hue that might spring to mind when you think of tennis, choose a mid-warm yellow with a white undertone to fill you and your room with optimism and enrich your space, says Tash.
Green
Opt for greens with yellow undertones when embracing the tenniscore trend. A colour synonymous with nature, green has an optimistic quality which invites balance and harmony into your home.
Red
'Accents of deep, earthy red will energise your space and feel physically stimulating,' says Tash. We love this rich, earthy terracotta shade – it's warming yet energising. Look for a mid red with warm pink and brown undertones to add a characterful touch to any room in your home.
Orange
And last but not least, there's orange. Opt for rich, warm oranges with brown undertones. Lick’s 'Orange 02 has a joyful quality that is comforting, making your space feel relaxing and peaceful', says Tash.
No matter which colour (or colours) you choose, pair them with fresh linens, rattan accessories and some seasonal flowers to truly take your interiors to the next level this summer. Or take the trend outdoors and give your garden a makeover with one of the tenniscore-inspired shades.
