The trending boho dress style to know now
Boho is back, with the high street dutifully taking its lead from Chloé's AW24 show and filling its shelves with floaty, Seventies-inspired fashion. But one piece in particular has been dominating the rails lately: the ruffle dress.
Seen on everyone from Sienna Miller to Daisy Edgar Jones (both multiple times!), this dress trend is as romantic as it comes – and a sartorial gift for Stevie Nicks devotees everywhere. But what we particularly love is how easy it is to translate for autumn too (in short: swap out sandals for knee-high boots), making now the perfect time to invest to get as much wear out of your chosen style as possible.
Ruffle dresses come in a range of silhouettes, many with ruffle skirts and others with statement frills across the shoulders or bodice (for a more subtle take, look for styles with little ruffled sleeves). Choose from maxi and midi cuts to playful minis –all perfect for holidays, weddings, or even the office under a blazer for polish.
Though the perfect partner for strappy heels, if you're put off by how ultra feminine ruffle dresses are, remember that there are ways to balance them out and add punch; try teaming yours with 'ugly' shoes like Birks or fisherman sandals, or metallic accessories to add a rocky edge. Of course, on cooler days, a leather jacket complements a ruffle dress perfectly. Ditto biker boots.
