Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and More Athletes Invest €200 Million EUR in Alpine F1 Team

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are among the latest group of investors in the Alpine Formula One team. The two Kansas City Chiefs players, along with world number-two golfer Rory McIlroy, former Heavyweight champion boxer Anthony Joshua, Liverpool footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold, World Cup winner Juan Mata and Eberg Capital founder Roger Ehrenberg, have invested €200 million EUR in the premier racing team, in partnership with Otro Capital.

In June, the Renault Group announced that it had sold a 24% stake in the Alpine Formula One team to a group of investors, which included Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, Maximum Efforts Investments and actor Ryan Reynolds. Now, Otro Capital has expanded its investment with the aforementioned athletes.

"I've always had a passion for all sports," Mahomes said in a statement. "The opportunity to lead an investor group with Travis in Alpine F1 alongside Otro Capital was one I couldn't pass up. It's an exciting time for the sport and this is an opportunity to bring our shared values to the world stage. I'm looking forward to being a part of its growth."

McIlroy added, "Passion for excellence on the golf course has led me to admire the same pursuit in Formula 1. Partnering with Otro Capital in Alpine F1 is an exhilarating venture that unites my love for sports, competition, and the relentless drive to be the best."

Alexander-Arnold, in his statement, expressed that the investment group's shared goal is to contribute to the team's continued success on the grid, while Formula One continues to experience impressive growth as a sport.

“These are best in class investors, athletes, entertainers and entrepreneurs and they are all committed to elevating the Alpine F1 team," Otro Capital co-founder, Alec Scheiner, concluded.

Elsewhere, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny launched a London-based football academy.
